They said he is OK and resting in the hospital.

Boston Celtics general manager Danny Ainge has been hospitalized after suffering what the team described as a minor heart attack.

The team issued a statement Thursday saying that the 50-year-old Ainge was “recovering nicely” at Massachusetts General Hospital and is expected to remain there for a few days.

Its true. I just got an alert. :sigh:

BOSTON -- News 9's sister station WCVB is reporting that Celtics General Manager Danny Ainge has suffered a heart attack.

Sportscenter 5 reported Ainge was resting comfortably after being taken to the hospital early Thursday morning.

Ainge, 50, who took over the Celtics reigns in 2003 and orchestrated last year's Celtics championship by bringing in Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen, did not attend Wednesday night's Celtics game because he was feeling sick.

Ainge woke up Thursday morning with chest pains and was taken to the hospital. Doctors later inserted a stent to unclog an artery that was 100 percent clogged.

Ainge will be in the hospital for a few days and will probably miss attending the Celtics playoff opener against the Bulls on Saturday. He is expected to make a full recovery.

He had a 100 percent block in an artery, they say it's under control and not life threatening though, still thoughts and prayers to Mr. Ainge on a full and speedy recovery!

Did anyone else hear this? I just saw it on ESPN a few minutes ago, was this from hearing the news about KG? They said he's resting and that he's okay.

No, there are multiple vessels supplying o2 to the heart. It just means blood isn't getting to one area of the heart, thus no oxygen to anything beyond the blockage where that artery goes, which = ischemia, hypoxia, yada yada yada...
