I was talking to a work buddy today and we were pondering the state of the sixers. I made the comment that they miss Thad young and he is their most important player while he said Iggy is the better player. I agreed so what i want to know which player type of player is more valuebale to a team. Sometimes that player is one and the same.

The best player or the most important player.
This is how I see it for some teams tel me what you think.

Sixer Best player= Iggy Most=Thad Young
Heat =Wade period he is both
Lakers Best player=kobe Most=Bynum

I tired to do the Bulls but i am too bias lol someone else do them.

Good thread Idea, but I gotta disgree with you about the Lakers.

Kobe=Best AND most important player

One for Toronto would be

Best Player=Bosh

Most Important=Bargs

Chicago would be something like
Best player - Ben Gordon (best scorer)
Most important player - Derrick Rose (runs offense)

I'd take John Salmons over BG. He plays defense, and shoots close to 50% while getting 20 PPG.

Nuggets
Best Player-Carmelo

Most Important-Chauncey, they still win games without carmelo, and Billups has revitalized that team

Pretty much, the superstars in the league are both the best and most important players on their team...

Orlando = Dwight Howard
Boston - KG
Spurs = TD
Lakers = Kobe
Cavs = Lebron
Miami = Wade
Hornets = CP3

Teams without a genuine superstar will have players that aren't both the most important and the best.

I'm not sure the Spurs' best player is TD anymore. I'd have to go with Parker at this point.

Good Thread!!!

Are we talking for the season here or for the playoffs?

Whatever the case, the best way to determine this is that I would venture to say the guy who is your key superstar is your best player whereas the guy who leads the team in Win Shares who is your most consistent player is your most important player.
