All 8 spots in the West have been locked up.

We all pretty much knew this was coming, but the Suns are officially out.

It's kind of crazy considering that over the past 4 years they won 62, 54, 61, 55, and will likely win 45+ this year. They made it to the WCF two of the past 5 years, and this year, won't even make the playoffs. Kind of crazy how fast fortunes can turn in the NBA.

:(

It's pretty sad IMO. They defeated the Hornets in vain last nigh.

It's gonna be strange with no Suns in playoffs...

That is too bad for the Suns. Hope next year is a better one for them. I guess it's all about positioning in the West now.

Hopefully we don't blow up our team.

I'd like to see a full year under Gentry with Amare back healthy.

I agree. I started a thread in the Bulls forum saying how mad I would be had we had a team like the Suns and failed to make the playoffs.

The playoff system is fine. The Suns weren't consistent this year.

I mean, it does suck that...had we been in the east...we'd be what? the 5 seed(?)
But that's how it goes.

Better luck next year.

It is a damn shame! :sigh: :sad2: But as one of the previous posters posted... Phoenix was very inconsistent all year. They went throught trades, injuries, coaching changes, you name it. If we don't blow up this team I could see us coming back strong next year!

would have been a better race if they had either traded amare or if he had stayed healthy. either way, i think there will be a much different team opening night next year in phoenix

The Shaq experiment didn't work. I know a lot of Suns fans will say that he was productive and played his best basketball in years. The problem is, adding a legit C like Shaq was supposed to be the missing piece. Instead, that major change meant missing the playoffs.

I know the team had major injuries, trades and coaching changes, but really the decline started when the Suns lost to the Spurs two years ago. The Shaq move was supposed to shore the team up. It didn't. Several other moves were supposed to help the team. They didn't. Despite his best intentions, and the acquisition of some great talent, Kerr just couldn't recreate the great team that gave Suns fans so much to cheer about for a good 3 or 4 year stretch.

Shocker. Kerr has to be the biggest idiot on the planet. I thought Danny Ainge was pretty bad until he somehow got KG and Ray Allen and the Celtics won the title. Then i saw what Kerr did to the Suns and i couldn't believe it. I guarantee that Suns team that came so close to winning a championship year in and year out would of won it by now if Kerr didn't blow up the team. Maybe add a piece without giving up too much but they were headed in the right direction.

Have to disagree there. The team needed to be changed. It wasn't going to win as it was then. Problem is, the most defining change Kerr made wasn't the right one to make.

they should have left the team as it was :S, what they ran into was bad luck (tim duncans 3 and nash busting a nose open)

They don't make the playoffs because...

A)they traded for shaq
B)they let D'Anoni go to NY
C)they changed their scheme to something that doesn't fit their team
D)defense never entered in the mind of Phoenix players
E)all of the above

Oh well, if they keep the same team and add a big off the bench they will probably make it next year.....their starting lineup is stacked as it is.

Shaq not in the playoffs is odd....but that is was happens when Father Time is the most significant force on the team....Hill, Nash, and Shaq are past their best days...and are an odd fit to begin with. Amare going out destroyed their chances obviously, but to me, it seems, like the direction they wanted to go just failed to make sense. They wanted to focus on D so they get Shaq? Who, without his athletic prowless, is a horrible and lazy defender? And they get two Warriors?? It has just been a train wreck with Steve Kerr.

You still wouldn't get in.

gotta disagree.

if the playoff system was revamped to the top 16 teams in the league, regardless of confrence. you would actually get the best 16 teams.
Phoenx is for sure a top 16 team so they would make it.

Are you blaming him at 37?

It's not like he is in his early 30's or anything.
