5:05 pm - Point Blank has just learned that the Islanders have signed Justin DiBenedetto to an entry-level three-year contract. The 2006 sixth round draft pick finished third in the OHL this season with 45-48-93 in 62 games. We recently ranked the 6-0, 200-pound left wing as the Islanders’ No. 9 draft pick in junior, college or Europe and called him the franchise’s biggest wild card. He will join Bridgeport on an ATO for the rest of this season.

The 20-year old DiBenedetto proved some critics wrong this season when he equaled his offensive output after his former linemate Steve Stamkos graduated to the NHL. His development in the Islanders’ system figures to be a fascinating watch. If he can continue to prove people wrong, it would be a huge boon to the Islanders’ rebuild.

Awesome Signing IMO
Justin puts up 93 points a year after point Machine stamkos leaves

he could be the real deal
