As the season is almost here, there are always players who establish themselves as superstars. Last year, Evan Longoria and Josh Hamilton were those kinds of players.

What players this year have an opportunity to join that class of players.

Just want some other ideas.......

That's an interesting pick, actually.

I'll just do the homer pick and go with Daniel Bard.

Then of course there is guys like Upton, who was mentioned earlier. Maybe Jeff Clement or David Price, too.

i know i'm a dodger fan and i really really do not like the dbacks, but Justin Upton is such a stud it's unfair. i can see him breaking out this year. hopefully he just has off days against the dodgers haha

and my obvious homer pick is Matt Kemp. someone above said he already broke out, meh i wouldnt really say that. he had a pretty good year last season, but this season he could be an All-Star imo

SCHNERIOUSLY?

You can't be serious! 31 yr. old whose entering his 13th year of proffessional baseball, and hasn't brocken out yet, why would you think this is the year?

Nearly 4,000 PA's in the minors for averages of .259AVG/.309OBP/.422SLG.
And his numbers in approximately 500 PA's in the majors are even worse.

Chris "Crush" Davis

Seems like a homer pick, but this kid just looks like an absolute monster at the plate, and plays 1B pretty well. As for my extreme homer pick, watch out for Salty, it's his turn.

Also outside of Texas, I think guys like Tommy Hanson, Jason Motte, and Travis Snider are primed for nice seasons that can help their ballclubs.

Kemp could finally bust out to be the monster he is....especially if the Dodgers hit him 3rd in front of Manny like they should....

Hitter:

Joey Votto had a good year, but I think he really breaks out this year.

Pitcher:

Yovani Gallardo and Manny Parra - Brewers rotation will look better then.

Upton is pretty obvious, so that's my pick.

I also have a sub-pick. A guy with a breakout change in perception year:

Adam Dunn. Everyone says he's a overweight, bad fielding, high strikeout guy that hits HR's and walks. Well so he is, but his year, he's going to hit over 50, and that's enough along with 120 RBI and a .400 OBP to convince people he is really a fine hitter.

Matt Thorton will have another great year, proving he is a top reliever.

Trevor Cahill could surprise too, and I think Jordan Zimmermann's gonna turn some heads. For a real breakout though I like Jonathan Sanchez. He's shown better control in ST so if it translates to the regular season he'll be excellent. We already know he's gonna strikeout a ton of hitters.

He's got as much chance as Darnell McDonald, the 30 yr. old rookie with the reds, of doing well, I say close to zero. Probably both be off their respective teams' rosters by June.

id say the florida marlins have 4 of the best breakout player possibilities out there, and i am a yankees fan...

maybin has the potential to be a stud, and has serious power that he has yet to tap into
josh johnson as someone said above looked great in his first start and worked out of trouble really well... he will have a great year
ricky nolasco can be a potential all-star this year, similar to the kemp argument he had a good year last year but can reach his potential this season
and emilio bonifico i dont know if he is just red hot to start but the man seems like a speed threat that will casue teams trouble all year
