"LOS ANGELES - The Knicks found a new, spectacular way to lose last night.

Al Harrington smacked the backboard and hung on the rim after a putback dunk with 25 seconds left in regulation, costing the Knicks a chance of closing out the Clippers as he picked up an incredulous technical foul"

I had to post this in the NBA Forum because I'm speechless and I want to know if anyone can think of a time where a player did something this stupid twice to blow two games. The article above is from over 2 months ago and they pretty much can copy and paste the exact same thing for this game. It just happened again tonight as the Knicks lost to the Clippers in OT.

Can someone please just tell me of things dumber than Al Harrington's two technicals before I go crazy?

"And for the second time this season, they benefited from a late technical foul on New York's Al Harrington after a dunk that had given the Knicks a three-point lead in the final half-minute of regulation."

mike smith (clippers color guy)
was like "noooo he did it again!" its probably the most animated i have ever heard him
and him and ralph lawler were just amazed at this
amazed at how stupid someone can be

him and d'antoni arguing about it was funny though

and its not like it was a bad call....he dunked and pulled himself all the way up his feet were almost up at the backboard

he didnt smack the backboard his hand touched it this time
anyway a clippers player was under him this time but the rule is that he can't pull himself up, which he did.

haha i was watching this game, and i was thinking, 'all the clippers need is for al harrington to hang on the rim again', and then about a minute later, he did!

the clippers commentators said something like 'd'antoni is telling him something like you're the dumbest player i ever had on my team' - i would have to agree because thats a really stupid play. actually good play, but stupid technical foul that he got TWICE.

but what do you expect, al harrington is not the smartest player.

Yea i Saw The Highlights of this on N.B.A. T.V. I wonder what his Team mates were Thinking its hard enough to go through a losing season but to have games takin away from you from your own player...Not saying the clippers might not have done something to send this to overtime anyway but Harrington made it Alot easier for them.

That is a easy problem to fix. Get all the players to get a switch. Have Al place his hands on the table and each player has a turn whacking his hands. I bet he wont do it again

I don't know what you guys saw in that video but this is what I saw

Thorton was right below him when he dunked the ball.

If he would have came down he would have landed right on him causing an injury.

Here's what I say he does now.

Next time Harrington goes for a dunk and there's somebody under him....just dropkick the guy below him and then we'll see what NBA says then about hanging on the rim.

Sometimes you have to get burned to learn how a rule should be modified...it's quite sad but this happens in any culture....hell we had to have 9/11 just to improve our airport security

Fix the rule before something bad does end up happening.

Al is in cahoots with Donnie about getting better draft position. He is willing to take the beating in the court of public opinion so that the team will be better off next year. That must be the reason why.

Prodigy is by no means a Knicks fan, and the situation last time was by ALL means a showboating exercise.

It seems every player that is or recently was a Warrior ends up as dysfunctional knucklehead...Crawford, Jackson, Davis, Harrington, Maggette...

I like Nellie for his unusual coaching style, but his style attracts alot of selfish players who have no interest in playing within a structural team concept.

I feel bad for Andris Biedrins for being in a team full of annual losers.

I don't know about this case, there isn't a link. But, I think it's okay to hang on the rim so as long as there is someone under the rim, for the which player doesn't want to land on. That's the only exception for hanging on the rim.
