Good stuff, definitely looks like there are 2-3 future starters on that team with 6-7 that could make an impact on the team in some capacity.

Great work looks like the pirates have a bright future.

it may look like that, and maybe i'm just being pessimistic, but we dont. we have horrible scouting. its not just about payroll, look at the marlins

you are right all we can do is really wait and see.

I do my best to follow our minor leagues throughout the season and I even TRY to maintain a starting 9 (DH), bench, rotation and bullpen for each team. But this gets hard with all the promotions and demotions.

Anyway I know how badly the Pirates have missed on players but hopefully this time will be different.

Just for fun I have a 40 man roster. A good chunk of these players really arent prospects (especially the pitchers). But this is my opinion. By the way I set it up in the following way: 3 catchers, 5 corner infielders, 6 middle infielders, 7 outfielders, 19 pitchers.

K Bloom
M Crotta
L Holdzkom
B Klinger
B Leach
B Lincoln
D McCutchen
K McPherson
Q Miller
D Molleken
D Moskos
B Morris
R Owens
N Pereria
J Sues
R Uviedo
A Watson
D Welker
J Wilson

S Lerud
A Walker
K Watts

Corner Infielders
P Alvarez
J Cunningham
M Hauge
J Romak
N Walker

Middle Infielders
C D'Arnaud
S Ford
B Friday
A Gonzalez
J Mercer
J Negrych

J Delany
W Freeman
R Grossman
Q Latimore
A McCutchen
A Presley
J Tabata

Like I said there is a case that a lot of these players dont deserve to be on this team. But I really do not see anyone who at the moment is clearly more deserving.

Edit: The 25 man roster has been updated as well and will be done periodically throughout the season.

hmm why did you put Alvarez at first?

hmm why did you put Alvarez at first?

quite simply the Pirates have nobody else to put there. There has been talk about moving him to 1st and with the complete lack of depth it made the overall team much better.

But the unasked question in there is who is the top 1st base prospect? That would be Calvin Anderson but he still has a lot to prove to be included with most of these guys.

To be totally accurate Alvarez would be at 3rd and Anderson at 1st with Walker on the bench.

I am bumping up this thread because I updated it due to the McLouth trade. More updates to come.

Not a bad list. Only two players I disagree with. This first one is just a different viiew really. Morton should not be on it because he pitched 70 some innings for the Braves. I consider prospect to mean someone who has rookie eligibility and is currently in minors. Also I disagree with Anthony Watson but that is just my personal opinion.

I updated my roster. I have given credit to Owens because of a good season. I consider Veal a prospect because he is definately a project. Hacker and Dubee are also questionable parts but they seem like good players.

I know I have not kept this too updated but I was wondering if anyone has thier top prospect list to add. I will update the list of the top players at each position and an overall ranking soon but everyone else is free to add thier lists.
