As of now, both players are equal on 55 double-doubles each for the season (both in points and rebounds). By the seasons end, who will have had more this season? Let's take a look at their stats:

Dwight Howard

Points: 21.0
Rebounds: 13.90
Games Remaining: 12

David Lee

Points: 16.0
Rebounds: 11.90
Game Remaining: 12

Other players

Troy Murphy 43
Tim Duncan 42
Chris Paul 42

Lee, once the Magic are locked into the third seed (which will be fairly soon), Howard will play less minutes to rest up for the playoffs so he won't be getting double doubles (or at least as many), whereas Lee will be playing every game at his normal minutes because the Knicks are fighting for a playoff spot. That said, Howard is clearly the better player.

Lee. Its his contract year and Howard will get less playing time to rest for the playoffs.

Lee is hurt and the Knicks are falling out the playoff picture. They might just shut Lee down. Meanwhile I doubt SVG does that with Howard. He'll still play enough. Howard ends up winning by 3-4.

Dwight Howard is clearly the more talented of the two but David Lee may be the hardest worker. He improves his game so much every year and plays his heart out for us lowly Knicks fans night in and night out. He is the reason I watch all their games.

Lee. Magic won't be playing Dwight once they are locked for their seed but Lee will still keep playing because the playoff race could last all season.

I would gladly make a sig bet with anyone here who picked Lee. It'll definately be Howard.

David Lee. Knicks will play him a lot. That being said, D12 can get a double-double in like a half...

"The race for the double-double championship of 2008-09 is coming down to the wire. The Knicks' David Lee now leads Orlando's Dwight Howard by one double-double, 60-59."

Should be interesting to see who actually wins. D12 had a 20-20 game tonight. I still say David Lee though.

lee's numbers are so inflated. he's a good player but he's only even in this discussion because he plays on the knicks and is the only player on his team who can consistently rebound. and with the pace the knicks play at his numbers are higher than they would be if he played on the cavs or the spurs/rockets
