"Mathematically, I've missed three years worth of games and I missed 5,000 free throws. If I was there, I'd probably be No. 2 or No. 3 right now."

Come on Shaq, everyone misses games due to injures and stuff. And it's not like you were gonna be able to shoot 100% freethrows! Haha. What if everyone shot 100% from the line and never missed a game?

he makes it sound like missing a free throw happens like an injury!! if he was missing games like grant hill did i could understand his comment about missing games, but free throws he has control over!! make em!!!

Freethrows he can control. Maybe if he shot underhand he could maybe make more freethrows.

So it's not Shaq's fault he missed all of those free throws?

nobody even mentioned he missed games for the most part because of his own lack of preperation

Exactly. Or taking the beginning of the season to heal an injury which should have been done in the off-season.

Regardless, Congrats to ya Shaq!

Congratz to Shaq. What a career. Too bad he has to end it in Phoenix where they won't make the playoffs this year.

as flawed as Shaq can be, free throw wise, and the fact that he doesn't work out in the offseason as hard as he should, he is the most physically dominant player I have ever seen. SOrry, I am not 50+, so I never saw Wilt. Easily one of the greatest 5 centers to ever play. I hate what ifs, but if he were a 70% free throw shooter lifetime, he is a top 3 player. Congrats Shaq

Yeah, had he had a better work ethic, and not been so non chalant about offseason work outs, perhaps he'd have missed less time. If he just shot 65% for his career on FT's, that's a lot more points. Crazy.

You know if Shaq's work ethic and conditioning wasn't so poor, he'd probably be the GOAT center. I heard the reason he's a poor FT shooter is because he has a bad wrist. It was a childhood injury that prevents him from getting a snap of the wrist. Maybe thats why he's so bad. If he could actually hit them, dude would've a lot more points and hack-a-shaq wouldn't exist.

He'll sign somewhere else after his contract with Phoenix is over.

8k? That would put him at like 35k. Wilt is next on the list at 31 and change.

Kinda seems like Shaq's whole drive and purpose is to solidify his legacy.
He really started to take things more seriously when fans and the media began to write him off....he is having that classic end of career surge that all the great one's go through.

I bet he's got 2 more seasons left in the tank....and might even catch on with another Championship team.

Shaq knows whats best, he saved his body for the games that mattered. Had he gone full bore all year with his playing style, he never wouldve won what truly matters, the chips.
