bucks forward charlie villanueva gained a bit of notoriety on sunday when he sent a "tweet" during halftime of the game against the boston celtics at the bradley center.

Villanueva, whose twitter id is "cv31", sent a tweet from the locker room with the score tied at halftime at 41: "in da locker room, snuck to post with my twitt. We're playing the celtics, tie ball game at da half. Coach wants more toughness. I gotta step up."

villanueva and his bucks teammates did step up to claim an 86-77 victory over the celtics, but the 6-11 forward has to step down his twitter usage. That was made clear tuesday by coach scott skiles after the team's practice session.

"we made a point to address charlie and the team that it's nothing we ever want to happen again," skiles said. "we don't want to blow it out of proportion, but anything that gives the impression that we are not serious and focused at all times, is not the correct way we want to go about our business."

skiles said he had received some negative feedback from people around the league. "it's something we just want to distance ourselves from, that's all," he said.

Skiles said he chose not to fine villanueva for using the online service. Twitter allows users to send out 140-character messages to "followers."

the bucks allow players to use cell phones in the locker room before and after games.

It's a tweet, who cares, he had 11 points in the 4th to seal a win over the Celtics. Didn't affect his game. Not a big deal, if anything let him do it again next halftime, you got the win last time he did it.

At least the twitter was about the game. Still says he's focused on the game, talking about how he needs to step it up (and did). Don't see anything wrong with that, but yeah, people will take it the wrong way. Better off not doing it at all.

charlie v has alopecia areata. its just an autoimmune skin disease. it means he loses hair on his scalp or other parts of his body. not life threatening at all.

Isnt twitter like an away message on aim?

I'd be a little annoyed if i was the coach too, its halftime during a game, and i find out one of my players is basically putting up an away message.

Not a huge deal, but Charlie needs to save if for the post game.
