Is Rubio really that good, because I dont watch him. You think they'll go after Boozer in the offseason? Eh Maybe but the starting line up is nice... the bench is filled with big men.

I'm assuming this would be the grizzlies signing boozer and drafting rubio.

In which case they still miss the playoffs in the west next year.

i doubt they try for boozer, or anyone. In these economic conditions, I wouldn't be surprised to see the Grizz stand pat and take their rookie and hope it grows into something sweet ala the blazers.

I say playoffs after 1 or 2 years. As the young guys develop, the team gets better.

I think it could be a good team, depending on the development of Mayo, Gasol, and Rubio. But I'm starting to think Boozer may not opt out of his contract this summer (15 mill is a lot of money to leave on the table) when there's only 4 teams with cap space (and the only attractive destinations being Memphis, though I doubt Boozer wants to play in that small of a market, and Detroit). If I was him I'd take my 15 mill and wait until 2010 where more than half the league is going to have cap space and a team that loses the Lebron, D-Wade sweepstakes picks him up for max money just to say they salvaged wasting the last ~2 years on getting expirings for talent.

Unless rubio and boozer learn how to play D i say continual first round exits starting in 2-3 years. Talent doesn't always = good but defense does. I have no idea if gay is a good defender Mayo isnt terrible and neither is Marc so that gives at least to sub par avg defenders with many unaccounted for defensively. Now if they had a offensive minded coach ala Byron Scott or D'Antoni i could see a couple conf finals appearances. But with any other coach almost certainly set for disappointment.

Not enough basketballs to go around, that team doesn't stay together more than two years. I don't see keeping Gay and Mayo together, let alone adding Boozer on top of that. Someone's not going to get touches and get PO'd about it, no matter how good of a distributor Rubio is. I think Mayo is the new leader of that team, with Gasol a close second. Gay gets squeezed out, and sent somewhere else.

7th or 8th seed at best

8th-10th seed. Good improvement, but with that lineup even a year later you are in the playoffs.

I've never seen him play (apart from olympics) but apparently Rubio plays solid D and plays the passing lanes really well.

A couple of seasons to mesh and this team would be nice if they all stayed healthy.

I don't think they would make the playoffs for at least two years

Rubio would be exposed badly playing with Boozer and Marc Gasol.

Basically none of the starters would play any defense, and most of the starters would need the ball in their hands to be effective. They'd probably be better off Millsap in that situation.

Not a playoff team year 1, playoffs in a couple of years though. They would need to add some pieces to their bench IMO, at least a scorer.
