Odom left the bench during the Ariza-Fernandez melee and was suspended one game by the league. He will miss the Lakers' game against Houston on Wednesday.

i think that rule is totally bogus but i guess they gotta stay consistent especially after the suns vs. spurs series.

He left the bench. That was the intent of the rule.

Granted Duncan should have been suspended in that Suns / Spurs series but Odom also deserves to be.

I'm shocked Ariza isn't getting anything.

The league got it right. Odom left the bench, he deserves a game. Ariza had a hard foul that looked a lot worse live. He doesn't deserve more than the Flagrant 2.

You can't leave the area of the bench. Even if he came out on the floor as a peace maker. Again since you are going into every thread saying how BS this is I'll repeat the rule... YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO LEAVE THE AREA OF THE BENCH.

The rule says if they leave the bench and step into the court, not the baseline:D

You don't need to step on the court. You just need to leave the bench area. He did that. Stupid move by him. This could potentially be a tough game for LA. Houston almost beat them last time they played. And then the next night they have to play SA. Could be a rough stretch for LA.

I thought he got suspended on the Brandon Roy foul, then I would have been pissed, I can live with this ruling, even though it's a bs ruling,

That is the dumbest rule ever.

Not really, unless you want bench clearing brawls to happen.

It's the rule and he broke it.

Hopefully, if something like this escalates in the playoffs, our players know what to do.

YOU CANT GO ONTO THE FLOOR, he started pulling Ariza back and then Roy got in his face and all he did was stand straight up, then he took two steps back. so technically he was still in the vacinity of a bench. This is because where he was is often where players sit when on the "bench"... If It was Lebron James or Kevin Garnett this wouldnt of happend.

i dont know why so many people are debating this.

NBA rule states if a player leaves the bench area during any type of altercation. Its an automatic suspension. Odom got up and strayed several feet from the bench to get into the mix, wether he was tyring to be a peace maker or not, you CANNOT leave the bench. Lakers are lucky Sasha didnt get hit with a 1 game either, he also got off the bench..but i guess he didnt step away from it really.
