Last year in 2008 in game 4 of the NBA Finals.

Whenever you blow a 24 point lead in the finals on your home court and lose the game when down 2-1 already, that is a choke. No other team or superstar ever choked sooo hard before.

Choke job by Pat Riley and John Starks in the 1994 finals! C'mon, if the guy is sucking (and he wasn't THAT good either), then the coach needs to get the guy to pass it to Ewing.

Patrick would have gotten his deserved ring if the Knicks would have given him a real #2 scorer. They only provided Patrick with good defense (which he himself was a major part of) and that is it.

Hard to argue for anything else to top that. That was one of my favorite games ever in NBA history. The Lakers were stagnent in the 3rd quarter and the crowd there was stunned -- as was the entire Lakers team.

It's the truth... in all honesty guys, that really was the worst choke job I can remember in basketball... when you have the perceived best player in basketball and lose to your #1 all time rival in such a crushing manner, how can it get any worse?

Sadly in my life time I would say the Mavs blowing a 2-0 lead, AND a big time lead in game 3 and going on the lose the series to the Heat.

Yeah, kinda funny it isn't closed yet, lol.

Its not a bad thread, he worded it wrong, maybe "What do you think was the biggest choke job in the playoffs"

Then offerd his opion, this could of been a good thread.

Anyway imo had to be the lakers and pistons, Shaq and kobe threepeated then they reload with the glove and the mail man (both past thier glory days, but both still effective) and lost to a rag tag psitons team that came out of no where. I mean going into that series who took the pistons?

I don't think he meant anything by it either. But usually if it usually hints toward anything these get shut down pretty quickly, intent or not.

well, the spurs won the championship the year before, so they weren't going for 4 in a row.

none the less, they probably shouldn't have lost. Though people tend to forget that Malone got injured, missed a game, and was hardly effective that series. Not to mention all the drama.

Plus I think its fair to say that the Pistons were the better team. They did go onto the finals the next year to lose in a 7 game series and went to the ECF 5 more times after their win.

But that lakers game last year was a pretty big choke job, biggest for one game. For a series, it has to be dallas.

John Starks (2-18 FG) game 7.
Nick Anderson missing 4 FTs in game of the '95 finals. Funny, how his career went downhill after that. "Nick the Brick". And, the Magic did have like a 15 point lead at some point during the game so it was pretty pathetic on the whole.

^Agreed with these. I would go with this one here. After having that lead in game three and then losing 4 straight is the biggest Finals choke IMO.

You can cross off Karl, he was hurt and contributed next to nothing in the Finals and GP, lol, don't even go there...

Anytime a team gets swept in the Finals, I consider it a choke.

Yup, this is a baiting bull crap thread, but the truth can't be denied. It was a piss poor performance, and the only positive thing I can get out of is that because of that loss, we'll remember it this season and REALLY focus.

So, as long as shining a flash light on true, but sad moments in OUR franchise, I do have to bring up an another topic.

The most embarrassing faked injuries of all time. I nominate the following:

Paul Pierce's leg "injury"
Curt Schilling's red sharpie

2002 East Finals: NETS & CELTICS.

Nets led 74-52 going into the fourth and Antoine Walker and Paul Peirce led the Celtics to score 40 points and only allow the Nets to score 16.

Nick Anderson in '95. Make 1 out of 4 free throws and you win the game. He missed all 4 and he his team never recovered as the Magic were swept by Hakeem and the Rockets.
