I think Kobe will opt out and resign another max deal with the Lakers, regardless of what happens in the playoffs.

well it woud funny, because laker haters would love it only to realize Gasol and Bynum is still good enough for a second round exit and then in 2010 lakers woudl HAVE THE MONEY for LEBRON :)

Kobe will not leave the Lakers for another team rebuilding.

Kobe and King James together on the Knicks?

The only teams who can offer Kobe a max deal in 2009 are the LAKERS.
FA class this year is doomed because of the economy and the fact that only rebuilding teams can put up the money.

Might as well add Bosh and Dwight in 2011 :laugh2:

If Kobe opts out, the best fit he can go to is the Orlando Magic. They have a contending team and he is known to be a beast when playing with a REAL big man. The Magic would dominate.

Yep exactly what I was thinking. This is Kobe's best chance to win and I really cant see him going anywhere

nobody that is a contending team has the cap room to offer kobe the kind of money he would demand if he opted out. If the cap stays at 58 or so, only memphis, detroit, and okc would have any kind of substantial cap room to offer kobe any kind of money, and I doubt he goes to any of those 3. Kobe will remain a laker for life.

WOW that would be crazy......

PG: Rose
SG: Kobe
SF: Loul
PF: T.Thomas
C: B.Miller /Noah/ or Can trade Gordon, Hinrich, or Can draft one.....

Maybe it might look like this or a bit close... They'll have to move some big contracts to get Kobe doh, i don't know who... Kobe would love the chance of playing in Chi.. Getting a chance to play for a franchise that had Mr.23..

kobe is 30 who cares? he needs to stay a laker for, life thats where he belongs. he has 3-5 more years of first, second or third best player in the world basketball. He needs to sign a 7 year deal and wait to be inshrined into the hall.

if he opts out it may be to take a lesser deal to give the lakers more cap room

The Lakers have the best supporting cast available to Kobe. Why would he leave the Lakers to take less money on a worse team?

He won't, but I still think he'll opt out and sign another long term max deal.

Super.

what about overseas?

superkegger
03-11-2009, 11:58 PM
what about overseas?

That was never a legit option. Kobe wants to prove he's the best. Can't do that anywhere but in the NBA. Maybe in 7-8 years when he's in the twilight of his career and the money is big enough. But now, especially since its a world financial crisis, euro teams are going to have the kind of money to hand out 30 or 50 milion a year like talked about.

This is pretty much spot on.
