Tony Parker vs Derrick Rose

Neither one is very good defensively, but Tony is by far the superior player. Rose will be in his first go in the playoffs while Tony has a Finals MVP. There is no reason to even imagine Rose would outplay Parker. Parker getting into the lane so much will cause a ton of pressure on Bogut to not foul.

Kobe Bryant vs Caron Butler

Kobe is the best player on the planet and Caron is out of position. While Caron is big enough to play Kobe in the post, he isn't quite quick enough to stay with him outside consistently. With Kobe's skills on each end, he would win this matchup.

Corey Maggette vs Luol Deng

Neither is that good of a shooter, both are alright on defense and both can get to the rim. This is basically nothing other than a tie. It's one of the closest matchups of players I've seen so far.

Lamar Odom vs David West

David is the better player, but Odom is big enough to body him in the post and is definitely quick enough to take him off the dribble from outside. There is no way West's lackluster defense will keep Odom from penetrating and getting to the rim. That is a receipe to get Bogut in foul trouble fast.

Pau Gasol vs Andrew Bogut

This one isn't even close. Gasol is the better player in scoring, passing and rebounding. If Bogut is better at defense, it's not by much. Gasol will be able to get him out of the lane and take him off the dribble. He's too clumsy to keep up with Pau's footwork. On the other end, he's long enough to bother Bogut consistently. We will also have Gasol on West and Odom on Bogut a lot as West is more finese like Gasol.

This is one of the teams that has a weaker bench than the Lakers. IMO, the Lakers are better at every position than SF. It helps that Powell will bully Frye and Bonner will keep Przybilla out of the lane with his amazing 3-point shooting.

On offense

Tony and Odom will be penetrating a lot. We're going to go into a halfcourt set and be very methodical. The less possessions in the game, the better. Kobe will obviously score and set up teammates, but he won't be used AS much as he was in the last series on offense. We feel he can shut down Caron if he gets to concentrate on D and also Rose if he starts playing well. With Kobe's mindset for being great on both ends, their offense will be shut down, which will lead to easy baskets for us. When we really want to slow play it and score, we'll go with Parker-Kobe-Odom-Gasol-Bonner. Kobe and Bonner outside are a deadly duo and with Parker and Odom slashing to the rim, they'll likely get a lot of easy, open shots. The Suns don't have anywhere near the defense to stop a team penetrating and using ball movement so much.

On defense

The Lakers will definitely slow play this series. If we can keep the Suns in a halfcourt set, they'll be in trouble with their terrible shooting. Outside of Butler, they don't shoot outside the lane very well. By putting Kobe on him, it's going to make it very hard for the other team to get a lot of points. With his outside scoring gone, we can basically clog the lane and MAKE this beat us by shooting, which they can't do. We also plan on putting Kobe on Rose if he gets it going. We feel that with our ball movement and penetration with Parker and Odom, Kobe won't have to do AS much on the offensive end. By that happening, he will be able to be the defensive stopper we need. By shutting down Caron outside and stopping the pick and roll by clogging the lane, we have a great chance of scoring many more points.

They are both good teams.
Suns have the better bench but the Laker still have the great front court and a hofer named Kobe Bryant.

Lakers in 5

Lakers, I still think these Suns are barely top 5 in the west whereas these Lakers are far and away better then the rest of their conference.

The Lakers have so much offensive firepower. Plenty of playmaking and offensive production from everywhere on the floor. As was pointed out before the Lakers are nothing great defensively, but then again neither are the Suns. Phoenix has superior depth and have a team with a great future in the WCF, so they've accomplished a lot. But there's no question the Lakers are the superior team.

The Lakers, they out-beat the suns in almost every position.
