BOSTON (AP) -- Boston Celtics forward Brian Scalabrine is expected to miss about a month due to the effects of concussions that have bothered him since January.

Team spokesman Jeff Twiss confirmed Tuesday that Scalabrine has been diagnosed with post concussion syndrome.

Coach Doc Rivers said April 1 has been set as a tentative return date for Scalabrine, who underwent further tests after missing Sunday's game against the Detroit Pistons -- the 12th in the last 15 games he has sat out.

Scalabrine had concussions in a week in January and sat out nine games. He returned and played three games before an injury against Denver last Monday that was first described as a strained neck but was likely another concussion.

Wow. Good luck making the playoffs...

hahahhahaha the maker of this thread make this a joke when it really isnt a complete one.

of course boston will still make playoffs but this further hurts their chance of getting the #1 seed....scal is a good contributor off the bench....an already shallow bench.

You puzzle me with that statement.

As for Scal, he is definitely going to be missed believe it or not. I think we have been missing him already these past few games.

i cant stand this guy.

for 3 years the Celtics paid him 3 mil annually and he did NOTHING. actually he was worse than nothing.

now 4th year into his deal, he finally contributes SOMETHING and he gets 3 damn concussions. and now we r stuck with Moore.

5th year, thank GOD, scal will be gone!

Exactly, his name is SCALABRINE not Scalbrine! Kudos for a non-Celtic fan noticing. :p

Super.

I'd like to make a request:

If a mod ever decides to change my thread title again, at least spell-check it, especially when the mistake is on the name of a player of the magnitude of Brian Scalabrine. If it was somebody like Mikal Jordon, I'd understand.

Anyway, I think the only way the Celtics salvage their season now is trying to trade the Big 3 + cash to Washington for Mike James.

Much bigger loss than people realize. He can spread the floor from the PF spot so Garnett can clean up inside and, plays great defense on SF's, PF's, and C's. He's one of them guys that contributes in many ways that don't all show up on the stat sheet similar to James Posey. We need big men so I hope he's alright.

Wow, I hope the C's can survive w/o him.

Yea, everyone's joking around, but he was actually a solid bench contributor this entire season. When Garnett went down, he slid into the starting line, and spread the floor which enhanced Rondo's ability to drive to the paint.

We're actually a good team when Scal's on the floor. I legitimately miss him.
