Knicks guard Nate Robinson said in an interview on ESPN Radio New York with Michael Kay recently that he isn't likely to defend his Slam Dunk title next season.

"I'll probably retire. I've been it in four times," Robinson told Kay.

Thank god.

+1.

You should only be allowed in a max 2 times in a row, or 3 times total in your career. After that, you already know what they have and it's not fun.
I hope Howard doesn't do it either. There's nothing else he can do.

LBJ will be fun. Give some new kids a shot.

He just doesn't want to be destroyed by LeBron

He's a good dunker, but one guy can only do so many contests before it gets boring. Hopefully LeBron really does enter.

yeah what more can he do? jump over yao?

Only if he takes one step up on his butt and then (like he did with Dwight) use his hand on his shoulder to push himself over the top...

Good riddance.

Not surprising. With LeBron supposedly going to be in the dunk contest next year, are they going to be able to find 3 other guys that will do the dunk contest?

Niiiice.

Now I still wanna see Howard though and unleash his full capabilities. I'm sure he can do 13-14ft or do 12ft from free throw line. SUPERMAN!!!

Lebron vs Howard vs Wade

Why are all u other fans hating. I do believe Nate should retire because he has done the dunk contest three times and for a 5 ft person, there is only so much that he can do. But his wins were spectacular so DONT HATE ON NATE

Howard's dunks on taller baskets are essentially the same thing as Nate dunks, except he's not cheating by using baskets that don't even exist in the game!

I don't think NAte's dunks were the most exciting, but why the hate? It's pretty ******* amazing that he can jump over practically anyone.

I want to see more style in the air during dunks. Bring back VC!! He's the only one who can give Lebron a challenge. And btw, Lebron doesn't have a pretty style when he dunks. I think VC could beat him.

It's pretty obvious Lebron is gonna win. Just because of the hype. Anything he will do will get a 50 whether it's good or not. Kinda like Dwight. He created all this tension and got 50 every round. The dunk contest is ridiculous now, and it's only going to get worse.

I don't know about kids, I think David Stern, the fans and the media would love another superstar/hall of fame type player so that it can hopefully compare to the MJ / Nique contest.

Nate is a little dude so I don't hold anything against him for not wanting to defend. There's only so many dunks a guy his size can do. LeBron will win next year, but he's going to do his generic dunks that we've already seen from him. Although, it's pretty much a given that he's going to dunk on a 13-foot rim like he said he was capable of doing.

I've been saying that for like 5 years, you don't even have to put down a great dunk to get 50. There hasn't been a good contest since 2000 when T Mac, Vince and Steve Francis were all in the finals.

Your right .It's sad that it's just a big soap opera now.Jay Rich was one of the most underated dunkers in the contest for sure.
1-Lebron
2-Dwight H
3-Josh Smith
4-?
