Sometimes when your star goes down, you'll have guys temporarily really step up big, or your team will rally around itself because that star is down. They're not a better team without Durant.

Thabo's definately stepped up. I always like his game - (from the limited minutes I've seen). Impressed he has been playing so well lately.

Just like the Celtics are better without KG??? Dont be crazy, those other guys are professionals, do you expect them to just lay down because one player goes down? Plus 2-1 with one of the two being Memphis doesnt scream BETTER.

Westbrook had a triple double it's should be a tight race for ROY with Rose,Mayo and Westbrook.

Nenad Krstic doesn't often get 26 points and Russell Westbrook doesn't always get triple-doubles ;)

I'm currently happy he's out. My boy from Wazzu, Kyle Weaver, 18 points tonight.

But yeah it's a fluke. Guys are realizing he's out and they need to step it up. If only they'd step up even when he's healthy.

Yeah, not really buying that they're a better team, but I'm loving the Russell Westbrook recognition. The kid should be mentioned in the ROY ranking along with Rose and Mayo.

Neither of their recent wins means they're better without Durant. He is made of pure talent, just like LeBron and Kobe. No team would be better off without him.

he'll never get it..the nba is biased its already going to Rose ( not to say he doesnt deserve it though )

Listen, if my freaking Kings can beat the Mavericks, then it's no big deal for the Thunder to beat them without KD. A win over the Grizzlies is no big feat either.

It's an easy stretch of the schedule for them and Durant happened to be out. That doesn't make the team better without him.

Brook Lopez would like to have a word with both of you guys.

:D

it's definitely a four-man race to the finish line right now. Any one of the four could get it and I would be fine with it.
Although Rose will likely be the recipient.

(oh, and of course they're not. Small sample sizes show flukes all the time.)

Truth. The Nets will have the decency to take him off their hands. We'll give them our starting SF - Trenton Hassell - in return.
You know, just to even it out.

They'd be 6-54 without him.

Fair, although he's the least likely out of the four to win it. Not knocking the kid at all though, he's a great talent and looks to be one of the best centers in the East in the future.

When could durant hit free agency?

When could durant hit free agency?

I was reading a report on Hoopshype.com where he said Durant could actually be a restricted FA during the summer of 2010. And he was like Durant could actually be one of the more sought after FA's. Although that would take him wanting out and not signing an extension. Which i think is unlikely though. But the timelime does seem to match up and when he is due for an extension though.

It would be a great story line that is for sure.

I would actually say he's more likely than Westbrook at this point, but it's about even.

Gotta slightly disagree there. Although their numbers are somewhat equal (comparing the positions they play) - Westbrook 15.8 PPG, 4.8 RPG, 5.1 AST, best defensive guard out of the draft - Lopez 12.7 PPG, 8.2 RPG, 1.1 BPG, best center out of the draft - but Westbrook has more hype around him (especially recently) and his level of gameplay has increased dramatically within the last few weeks, while Lopez, although still good, has remained as consistant as he has for the entire season.

If you were to consider Lopez to be ahead of Westbrook he would have to have a better March than Westbrook.

But yes, it's almost even at this point (keeping in mind Westbrook's poor FG%).

Not much of a fluke when his on/off court numbers have been terrible since he's been in the NBA.

Interesting read. Basically, it says because Durant is a, well, horrible defender, no matter his offensive genious, for the time being, may be "better" without him. If I'm getting his point.

Of course he is quick to emphasize that there's no way that in the long run they would be better witout him, as he can obviously work on his defense and they can do things to "hide" him on the defensive end.

Chronz
03-04-2009, 11:53 PM
Yea thats basically all I take from that is that he can stand to improve his defense, but I wouldnt say the Thunder are better off without him.
