Radio or TV...

I'd have to go with Gus Johnson (who announces the CBS March Madness coverage), play-by-play radio announcer and backup TV announcer for MSG.

He's amazing... he always makes the games more fun to watch.

On the other hand we have Joel Myers here covering Lakers games, who flat out sucks!

Marv Albert. Nobody is better than he is at covering games.

Agreed! Marv Albert is great. Mostly I think the national guys are far better than most locals. I just moved to South Florida, so I see a lot of Heat games and I think their announcer is one of the worst that I have heard.

Edit: Bob Costas is great as well.

My personal favorite is Kevin Harlan, but in terms of the best, it has to be Marv Albert.

Nobody (even Costas, who is a legend) can do play by play like him. Marv's got the perfect tone for every situation, and always knows when to elevate a certain situation at the exact right time.

I always liked Bob Costas, he knew exactly what to say at the right time, especially in a very touching historical moment.

After Jordan's last shot against Utah 1998 Finals
"Who knows what will unravel in the next several months, but IF that is the last image of Michael Jordan, how magnificent is it."

I gotta vote Neil Funk, play-by-play for the Bulls TV. also Chuck Swirksky is good. but neil funk has a lot of the classic radio calls in the 90's for the bulls title teams. but. i dunno if it counts here. but id also say Johnny "Red" Kerr when he used to. May he rest in peace.

Bob Costas was always my favorite.

Yeah, he's probably my all time favorite announcer, period. Too bad NBC doesn't do a whole lot of sports.

I also enjoy Mike Breen. Too bad he works with those clowns Mark Jackson and Jeff Van Gundy.

I also lobe Kevin Harlan. By far my favorite. I actually think he's better than Marv. Of course that may be, because Marv works with Reggie Miller now, who is hands down, no doubt, the worst announcer ever. God, I hate Reggie Miller.

His voice sucks. And they both like Wade too much.

I like Marv Albert the best.
