...he majored in psychology at the George Washington University, where he played power forward and center. He was second team all-conference in 2004-05 and averaged around 15 points per game for his career. He was best known for explosive dunks...

Since February 2009, Mensah-Bonsu has been playing with the Austin Toros, the San Antonio Spurs NBA D-League affiliate. He is averaging 25 points and 12.5 rebounds per game.

Looks like a pretty athletic bigman, but there's nothing about him signing with us, just working out with us.

hmmm... worth a flier on him... can't hurt to have a couple more athletic big men...

haven't seen any word about him signing with the raptors but doug smith mentioned him in his blog

http://thestar.blogs.com/raptors/

"He’s no Antoine Walker but, stolen from the AP story, …

Pops Mensah-Bonsu scored 39 points and grabbed 18 rebounds to help the Austin Toros defeat the Colorado 14ers 131-124 in overtime on Sunday. "

Ya, he played with... Dallas, I think it was, last season for like 7 games I believe. Not sure why the OP thinks he's a sure-thing here.

another diamond in the rough... poor man's jamario

maybe he can provide the things jamario moon provided...
rebounding, shotblocking, athleticism, dunks,

he's 3 years younger and a little taller...

couldn't hurt to check him out...

he seems to be tearing up the d-league.... which makes me wonder??? would jamario moon tear up the d-league if he was sent down???

Looks like Colangelo is looking at all the possibiites at making this Roster More athletic. Nothing wrong with giving a guy a chance thats playing down in the Farm, that can play D,block shots, rebound, CRAZY DUNKER, decent post game and ability to score in transition. Look at our back up bigs its a JOKE.

his d league numbers are off the charts. even if he puts up 1/3 of those numbers we have a pretty solid bench player. And i don't think it is possible to be a poor man's jamario

If the Raptor's are picking up another big man, could it give us roster flexibility to let Jawai or O'Bryant get some minutes in the D-League? Or would their experience be better in practice with this team and garbage time minutes?

Looking at the D-League stats, Pops looks alot like Pap Sowe... Not sure that's a good thing, but I'm all for giving our bench a bit more depth!

I miss Pape Sow.....I'm not sure why we let him go. He only got garbage time, but everytime he was on the court he brought instant energy and rebounding.

After some googling, I can't find anyone confirming this. Either you confirm it with a link or the thread dies.

Oh my God! The Raptors just signed Pops. Daaaamn, nobody in the entire league wanted him but he's tall, young and **** so I think its realistically possible that he can start someday in the near future and post 20 and 10. I'm so pumped I can't wait to see him sitting on the end of the bench!

Still no word. I have to agree. I gave the story time to develop but it hasn't happened.
