Does anyone know why the NBA doesn't just sell DVDs of their games straight up?

Games should be readily available, but it doesn't seem that way.

I 100000000% agree with this. I'd pay a pretty hefty price to get a hold to one too. I was 10,11, and 12 when the Kings were at their peak and I can't remember most of it all. I wouldn't mind NFL and MLB discs like that as well.

Ha ha, me too. I only remember the playoffs.

They probably could make alot of money like that. Of course, there would probably be more profit sharing. Kinda like whats going on with the Film Actor Guild and the producers right now.

Probably because the market for them ain't big enough. Only a real hardcore fan would sit there and watch an entire classic game.

At the end of every season they should sell a DVD for each team featuring the best plays and the best games... I'd buy one every season

The NBA wouldn't have the authority to do that even if they wanted to. By selling the broadcasting rights to local and national television stations, the NBA would not be able to later sell the games. Local and national broadcast companies would want a large share of the proceeds.

Maybe not every game or any random game, but they should at least have every playoff game available in NBA History for fans to watch at there leisure.

I'd love to see a 'season review' with some key games on the extra discs. Each team should have this following a season. I'd love to have some of the memories of the Run n Gun Suns for when I get older. Also I'd love to know more about the 93 Suns and 95 ones as well.

Because movies are easily ripped from DVD's and the league might be worried that some "bootlegger" is just going to rip the games and upload them online.

That is kinda like what is happening with Youtube though.

Yeah that's why they're even more reluctant to do it.

do they sell season reviews of each team, if so I'd definatly think of buying them...or like playoffs each year showing extended highlights of each game would be worth buying

From what I know, they only do so for teams that won the title that year. They do however have a teams History available at the current moment for the following franchises: Bulls, Lakers, Celtics, Knicks and Sixers.

I'm not sure why they don't have it available for other franchises though.

I dont like the idea of the DVD's, they have classic games on NBA tv and sometimes on espn, thats enough. Its a lot of basketball being played cant watch and support the other teams if your watching classic DVD's.
