It seems that just about every team is preparing for the 2010 FA class. Now, my hunch is that this preparation will blow up in almost everyone's faces. Wade will stay with Miami, Bosh will go to NY, unless the Raps improve or throw a ton of money at him, Lebron will stay with the Cavs or go to NY. Amare will probably end up in Chicago.
Shouldn't the teams that remain 1-2 pieces away from contending be trying to improve sooner via trade or this offseason? How do you see the 2010 bonanza really shaping up? Thoughts?

(Yes-the economy is a huge factor in these decisions-I know that. And I know the trade deadline has passed.)

For the most part i agree.
Wade- stays in Miami
Lebron - 85% sure he stays with the cavs especially how there doing now if he leaves its to NY or NJ
Amare -I think he goes to NY to reunite with D'Antoni if Lebron doesn't
Bosh - Either Miami or Chicago

No player will leave 30 more million on the table and the Raps,Heat and Cavaliers all can offer 30 more mill and 1 more year than any other team.I doubt Bosh,Wade and Lebron leave all that money there , maybe Lebron because he could make some of it in NY but still is a lot of money in this trouble economy to pass up on.

The one thing I've come to realize about all the reporters and ESPN in particular saying Lebron is going to NY in 2010 is that if D'Antoni is still coaching the Knicks by then, which I assume he will be, Lebron probably won't go.

Lebron's already learned in his short time in the league it takes defense to win a championship, not something D'Antoni cares about... at all.

I think Bosh MAY leave Toronto, depending on what they do between now and then.
I have no idea about Wade, though.

Abe,
I know that, but those are the biggest names that teams are hoping to get.

but even then there are big names besides the big 4.and simply put,we dont know either way, there has been an upsurge recently in the they will stay argument, right after the they will all move was popular belief, must it only be each extreme.simply put,its too early to say either way with any amount of conviction without ending up looking foolish, alot both good and bad as far as their respective situations can happen in the next year and a half, that can change a wade will stay absolutely to a he will leave,or a bosh he will leave to a he's staying

its still to early to make those calls;delusion or real shot

It's not about whether Dantoni cares about defense, it's about whether he knows how to coach it and get results with it. With Nash running the show with a slew of athletic players in Marion and Stoudemire, SSOL was the way to go, but now they he doesn't have players like that,he doesn't run SSOL just a general uptempo offense, but nothing near the likes of Golden State or those who just don't play ANY defense in contrast to just not having good defensive players.

They will all resign with there teams and if they relly wanted to leave in the first place they will cry VC stile and end up asking to be traded.

Just ask yourself if your Lebron 25,Bosh 26,Wade 28 at that age you want to make all the money you can and have all the security in the world in case a bad injury happens to you.If someone gives you 30 more mill and 1 more year i bet 99.9% of you will take the money and run.I believe only Shaq took less money in this era but he made it up making movies and stuff because he move to LA.Only Lebron could have that impact in NY but is not going to be as big as the one Shaq had anyway.

Unless Toronto vastly improves, I would assume Bosh would leave, even if they threw a lot of money on the table. I think Amare will leave, especially after all of the trade talk this season. Steve Nash as well. Lakers will keep Bryant, Gasol, and Sasha. Kevin Durant stays he seems like a loyal guy. Man their are a lot more FAs' then I thought.

Durant-it will depend on money and how much the team improves. If they are still losing most games, he'll probably want to move on.

I think Amare and Bosh are the only two that end up switching teams. I have no idea where either would go. But I did lmao last night when Scott Van Pelt said: "Nate Robinson blocks the shot of future Knick great Chris Bosh." But one thing about it is you never know. Toronto could come back in a big way next year and sway Bosh. The Suns could also do the same and bring in some young promising players for the future. After our turnaround this year, you just don't know.

The big movers, like Lebron --> NY, won't make a dent, but will make alot of noise. Like Shaq to the Lakers in 1995, it will take alot of time for Lebron to mesh with NY (even if Bosh and Nash go there with him.) The dividends of 2010 wont be aparant for at least 2 years.

But what will happen, is when a championship contender gets a piece their missing. I'm not gonna speculate then, because the lakers need to resign Pau and Kobe more than anything.

I think LeBron will remain w/ the Cavs.

I think Wade will remain w/ the Heat.

I think Bosh will sign w/ either the Cavs or Heat.

As of right now, I think Amare will go to NY. But there is a possibility that he could remain w/ the Suns. If they trade Shaq next year for another young piece I think Amare will consider remaining in the desert.

I think Dirk will remain w/ the Mavs.

Kobe & Gasol will remain w/ the Lakers.

Yao will remain w/ the Rockets.

The biggest F/A changing places, aside from Bosh & possibly Amare, may end up actually being Caron Butler. He would be a great piece on a contender, because of his defensive ability. He already has made stops in LA & Miami. The Spurs & Magic both would be good fits for him, IMO.

I cant remember where this was reported, Ill try to find out, but 2 different people have told me that Bosh said, "Toronto can do whatever they want with me while Im under contract, but in 2010 Im going to Chicago."

Supposedly he likes the way they run things, likes the big market, the fact that he could be their go-to guy, and he loves Derrick Rose.

As a Bulls fan, that comment brought a smile to my face.

Also, the guy that nobody is talking about, that ranks 5th on my wish list, is Joe Johnson. That dude is the best player that nobody talks about. Any team would be lucky to have a 6'6 guard who can D up, pass, rebound, and shoot the lights out.

As far as Im concerned, the top 5 FA's go like this:

LeBron
Wade
Bosh
Amare (Could be swapped with Bosh as 3rd and I wouldnt argue)
Johnson
