OUCH man. this happened to me. it is MISERABLE.

its not something that happened because of an occurance. this is something that occurs over time. unless he got smacked in the head with a brick.

This is one of the most painful surgeries and now i cannot legally drive because my eye site sucks so bad. I was on the couch taken eye drops for a week. Couldnt do anything for about a month.

8 weeks is a lot for a partial tear. mine was fully tore off and it took me 4 weeks to recover. THIS IS SO SCARY WHEN IT OCCURS. u think your going BLIND. u start gradually losing vision in your eye and eventually i lost it all by the time of the surgery. its terrifying.

the pain after surgery is the equivalent of 10 bee stings in your eye every damn moment.

I am now an Amare fan. GET WELL BIG GUY!

it made me feel pretty good after my surgery...

its supposed to, but my body has zero tolerance for strong drugs

to the ppl talken about the suns future, People be happy the man didnt lose vision in his right eye. If they did not perform the surgery perfectly, he could lose half of his vision and worse than that, once it happens in one eye, it is likely to happen in the other. So im sure they did preventive surgery on the left eye.

it sounds like it went well, so he should be alright in a few weeks and be back on the court ready to be the same dominant Amare

But there is still 8 very good teams ahead of the suns right now. Passing the suns still means no playoffs. You gotta pass two teams. The warriors will not make the playoffs, especially not because amare had eye surgery.

I think he will only miss the regular season not the playoffs, hopefully we make the playoffs but its going to be tough.

He can't begin physical activity until 8 weeks from now, which is 2 days after the season is over. There is no way he can play in the playoffs and be in shape after not doing anything for 8 weeks. He is done for the rest of the year and the playoffs.....if the Suns made it there.

Sounds like Suns will go small and have Hill or Barnes at the PF.

Though shaq has been playing very well this season i dont think he can fill that role of amare. Amare is young and very explosive. Shaq, on his best day, cant exactly regain his lakers/ early miami form.

02-20-2009, 03:39 PM
Unbelievable. Just when the Suns were finally back. I think it's possible that he gets back before the playoffs begin, though. We just need to push into the 8 seed... it's still doable. Even without Amare, we'll still be better than we were under Porter. Nash plays his best in the run and gun system, and if anything, we've proved the last two games (doesn't matter who it was against) that everybody else can thrive in that system, including Shaq.

It sucks, but I think we will be okay.

sunswin532
02-20-2009, 03:44 PM
hey, it's gonna be alright. Suns just need to make the playoffs, and then Amare will be back onto the court stronger than ever. We will be the basketball version of the Arizona Cardinals. Finals, here we come.

I'm gonna make a comment about this before anyone else does. I respectfully disagree about the assessment that the Suns can A. Make the playoffs without Stat (who are they going to overtake?) and B. They can make the Finals period, injury or no injury.

Rockets actually have been 13-6 without T-Mac this year....and T-Mac has been completely mediocre this season and has actually hurt the Rockets more than helping the....The Rockets are not gonna win the NBA title no matter what but I am confident they can still make the playoffs without Knee-Mac.

after i had retina detachment (awful memories), i have been wearing the protective glasses everytime i ball. i have no choice. Amare will have to wear them to at least protect against a shot in the eye.

however, he is now in my position wear the retina has been damaged and can come loose again if he gets hit very hard in the back of the head.

its a scary and delicate situation and I can't wait to see how he handles it. under no circumstances can Amare EVER get into a fight again. one bad hit and he loses vision in that eye.

Probably not long considering you operate a detached retina within 48 hours or suffer irreversable damage to the eye, and potential blindness. And I doubt he'll be back on the court in 8 weeks. I know someone who had a 25% detachment and it took several months before their vision was restored.

Pirate eye patch? No depth perception for starters...
