The Grizzlies have traded a conditional second-round pick in 2013 to the Los Angeles Lakers for Chris Mihm and cash considerations, an NBA source confirmed Wednesday afternoon.

The deal is expected to be announced this evening or tomorrow morning.

Mihmís $2.5 contract expires after this season.

Well the fact is, when he has his chance to shine, he never really came through. The good news is that DJ Mbenga will finally start getting playing time now that he is the backup Center unless Lakers have something else up their sleeves......

I doubt they will make anymore trades. Every year around the deadline everybody thinks their team will make a trade. And about 25%(if that) do

Why would the Lakers dump him like that? They have to be clearing a roster spot. When you're over the cap, you don't trade expirings for 2nd Rounders.

This deal makes no sense. What will Mihm do for Memphis? Unless he's taking Haddidi's place while he's in the Dleague

To me this seems like a salary dump to maybe clear salary for another potential deadline move?

Maybe/Maybe not?

Anyone have any input on the motiviation of the move it seems to me like the lakers could use all the depth they can get under neath with Bynum out

Just looking for input Im a knicks fan who only casually follows the Lakers because I view Kobe as the greatest player on the planet.

Mihm was getting paid 2.5million and Mbenga (who is just as good if not better) is getting paid 0.8million. That's the main reason. I don't think there will be another Laker trade before the deadline. Also the Lakers get rid of a Celtic (Mihm played a year in Boston) lmao.

No thanks to a Shaq trade.

He's making WAY too much money and we'd have to give up key players just to get him.

Knowing that PHX is a division contender they would try their best to do a rape job.

Yeah Im sure theyve discussed the option since shaq would be open to returning. We are in a good groove right now. i dont think you should mess with a good thing.

Lakers are in the luxury tax right? So they traded away a player who doesn't matter to them, and I'm guessing $3 million in cash, to Memphis, who nets $500,000 in profit. The Lakers save $2 million in the process. I realize that's chump change when you're talking about NBA salaries, but that's $2 million, why not save it if you can?
