1st Round series - Do you prefer a 5 Game Series or 7 Game Series?

as much as i think its only 7 games for marketing purposes, I would say 7 games is the right amount to judge a teams talent against another oponent. Although I kinda think that if a team wins the first three games in a row, they should just win the series and not be forced to go out for a fourth game, because they have already proven that they are the better team.

i think 7 game definitely because it truly shows the depth of a team

3 games, 7 makes it feel like the playoffs drag on forever and makes me lose interest in alot of the games.

5 games make upsets happen more frecuently.

very true. i personally like 7 better because it really shows who the better team is. 5 games (like in baseball) go to quick for me.

thats defiantly not enough time to compare a basketball team to another. Remember, its not as physical as football or anythin, the players can handle 7 games

Agreed.

Upsets will happen much more frequently in a 5 game series. If a higher seed team is off for 1 night, they are at a much higher risk of losing the series. In a 7 game series it allows you to recuperate and regain momentum IMO.

Also, I feel that all rounds of the playoffs should be the same amount games. Why have one 5 game and the rest 7 game series? It makes much more sense to have them all the same.

True, but it does make it where the underdog has a greater chance.

If the Lakers are the favorite, I would like a 7 game series. If they are the underdog, a 5 game series is easier to steal.

Just like when the 40-42 Rockets beat the 54-28 Lakers 2-1 in the first round.

You know what was weird was that in 2000 the 2 teams who got to the finals were the two teams that needed 5 games in round 1 to win. Of course Indiana nearly lost that game 5 at home.

I just like the idea of a 5 game series a whole lot more personally. In 2003 I felt Minny would have had a greater chance to win a series had it been 5 games instead of 7.

if i remember right, didnt GS upset Dallas in the 7 game format? i think so. because i think when they instituted it t-mac was still on the magic. but 7 game format still can be upsets. atlanta almost upset boston last year with it. just neither team could win a road game so home court came in handy lol

I say 7, just to keep everything constant.

7 games. A 5 game series nowadays isn't really a good sample size to see which team is better, even if it's the first round.

I remember that. I already had my "best of 5 series are BS" excuse cocked and loaded if the Lakers were to go on to lose that series. :D

I prefer 7 games, it allows you to see what team's are dominate and what teams have no business in the playoffs.

PS: hahah quick thought t-Mac would get out the first round in a 5 game series.
