View Full Version : Lakers should go get Shaq!

Why don't they just go get him? They could have him for Lamar, Walton and Mihm. Trade makes sense for both teams. Lakers WILL NOT WIN the title as they currently stand and this makes financial as well as talent sense for the Suns. With Gentry taking over in PHO they are most likely going to go back to Phoniex basketball, so Lamar and Luke would easily fit in

only if the Suns keep Amare...plus I think either Ariza or Farmar would have to be included

Kobe would not allow it. People would still say, "cant win without Shaq" if they won a ring this year.

You can have Shaq for realatively cheap, Lamar Odom and fillers would do it!

Back to Runnin and Gunnin baby:

Steve Nash
Jason Richardson
Grant Hill
Lamar Odom
Amare Stoudemire

By then Bynum's knee will be healed and you won't need him. In all honesty you really could use Shaq again.

I believe the lakers have a very good shot a winning it all this year with the pieces that they currently hold, although the addition of shaq would help especially against very big and strong teams.

he will be a back-up C...he is better than who we have now in mihm and mbenga...

Shaq would give you guys great size to match up with the C's and Cavs.

My phone won't let me quote, but I agree with the poster above that this trade be made under the pretenses that the Suns plan on keeping Amare.

I beg to differ that the Lakers will win a championship this year, they may come close but they will not do it. If Kobe has matured as much as everybody claims he has then he himself should push for this trade given the obvious availability of Shaq.

Why would Lakers give up half of their bench for a 37 year old shaq?

kobe doesnt want him. its obvious when he shot down any chance of it happening before the reporter finished his sentence.

shaq thinks everything is cool with kobe, but kobe is no fool.

"Kobe couldn't do without me"

- Shaq

I don't blame Kobe for not wanting Shaq. I know Kobe hasn't said he doesn't want Shaq, but all know Kobe wants to win one on his own. It might seem selfish to a lot of you, but what Shaq said probably rings in his ears and makes him strive that much harder for that ring.

We all know how much he cares about his legacy.

I think shaq would be the piece to guarantee the Lakers to get over the top.

I'd like to see Shaquille O'Neal back with the Lakers. It'd make prefect sense in terms of entertainment and marketing. It'd also make sense if they really want to win this year. It feels like Kobe wants the Lakers to be his team and he wants to win a title as the main player. It would only cost the Lakers Odom, Mihm and Mbenga. The Lakers might do the deal if the Suns agree to take Walton.

I can't respect Kobe Bryant that much even if he wins a title because he's doing it with another all-star 7 footer. Kobe's got more talent around him than any other franchise player.

What if the Celtics, Spurs, or Cavs acquire Shaq by means of a trade or buyout?

no way, too much $$$$

maybe if shaq is signed when hes a FA, no way the lakers do this trade. especially when they traded shaq, that was the sign that said its kobes team not shaq's. its funny tho. in the interviews all shaq says is it feels like old times. but kobe never says anything like that.

Then why do we need to sacrifice our future for a short term remedy??

In response to the poster who begged the question as to why the lakers would make this trade because of them having to "trade half their bench". Well, Mihm never players and the lakers would love to find a taker for Walton and his contract. Let's not overstate things lol

so true, if you want to go out there and waste 20 million to get shaq go for it.

i guarantee you would have to trade odom $11,400,000 , Waltons $4,420,000 and Morrisons $4,159,200, to get shaq.

The lakers can win a ring with their current squad. There is absolutely no need to change the squad right now. I wouldnt mind signing Shaq after the season is over (for a much cheaper contract of course)

but if they end up with out bynum , in the playoffs, i think they would have trouble with a couple of teams in the west. I still think the lakers aren't tough e ought, to beat the C's in seven. Your going to say, we beat them in the regular season, but to me the C's really don't care about the regular, there going to step there game up in the playoffs big time. And the lakers better be ready

im with you, after seeing the whole co mvp thing over all star weekend and with the trade deadline quickly approaching, i think something big is brewing and Shaq to the lakers could be it.

kobe will demand a trade if shaq goes there. it will be the biggest stab in back by LA to Kobe. so if your willing to give up Kobe for him, then ok go for it.

We cant trade Morrison in combination with anyone else, Odom makes 14 mil, any deal that gets rid of Walton is a good deal, so yes it would be worth it. Dont see it happening though.

your missing the point.

your not dealing walton and odom for shaq. your dealing kobe for shaq.

ESPN last night said the Suns appear set on not dealing Amare as well as Shaq. So this may a moot point.

I'm sorry but I'll have to pass on Shaq. Something tells me he's only a fake and a phony (again). Plus, Kobe won't be able to say "I did it without Shaq". Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe this was the whole point when Shaq left, was for Kobe to prove himself he can win one (or God-willing) more on his own. So no thanks on Shaq, I only see him as a douche. However, I respect him for giving us 3 championships.
