View Full Version : Add one role player to your team...

OK I made a thread like this in the off-season, but I thought it would be interesting to see what people have to say now we're half way through the season.

Basically, what one role player can you think of that would seriously help your team?

For the Lakers I said Shane Battier, and I still think he's a great fit for us. He's a great defender and shooter to start at SF for us.

Kurt Thomas is another guy I love. He could come in and play some good minutes as the back-up C, and give us some good defense.

Who do you like for your team?

Remember, don't worry about trades and stuff, just think of which role player you would like to see on your team....

Sixers could use James Posey. He stretches the floor, plays good defense, but most of all he'd give us clutch shooting and all around aggressiveness/attitude.

Portland... Shane Battier. I think he is the ideal role player for almost any team. He is a lock down defender. Stretches the defense. Great BBIQ. Willing passer who doesn't demand the ball on offense.

I know some of us in *********** feel Battier would be perfect for us. A nice player with a high BBall IQ..But I feel we're to crowded at SF/SG positions..With Bynum out, up front is where the toughness is needed..Insert PF/C Chris Wilcox..

Daequan Cook would be great for the Rockets. he's a nice PG who can hit the open 3 Yao creates for our players more consistantly than Rafer or Brooks. Jason Kapono would be nice too for the same reason. He can be a backup 2 or 3 for us. Basically the Rockets need a player who can hit the 3 consistantly.

I would LOVE to have Tyson Chandler for the Lakers right now. Good rebounder, shotblocker, aggressive, and can catch the ball for alley oops. Derek Fisher does a handful those a game for Bynum (not as much as CP3, obviously) and I believe it'd be a huge bonus to his assets.

Now I know Chandler not be an actual "role" player, so downgrading a bit, I would like to have Ime Udoka.

I agree.. Luke is eventually blending in with the second or will be traded..If Odom re-signs for a nice contract, he's going to eventually be our starting 3 or sign for less and be our 6th man..We still have Ariza(re-signing?) and then possibly Morisson at that position...Something has to give..

lol, Lee >>>>> Nene/Martin combined.

Lee may be better than K-Mart, but Nene has been mightily impressive this year. Lee is the slightly better rebounder...but Nene is more explosive on offense and is better as a post defender.

Lee is a slightly better passer than Nene, both are equal as far as athleticism goes. It's really close...but Nene is slightly better.

Lee has really improved significantly but his stats are a bit inflated because of the amount of possessions the Knicks get each game.

bahama0811
02-16-2009, 02:03 PM
Lee may be a better rebounder, that's about it though. K-Mart and Nene are both way better defensively. Nene is a way better offensive player as well. The Nuggs have played more of a slow-paced offense. Still some fast breaking but mostly a half-court offense. The Knicks are playing Mike D'antoni's offense, enough said. Lee gets a ton more chances on offense than Nene does. David Lee takes almost 12 shots a game, Nene only takes 9. Nene shoots 61% from the field, Lee shoots 56%. Nene also only plays 32 minutes a game compared to Lee's 35.5.

Depends by which measuring stick you use. Lee can't hold a candle to K-Mart defensively. Kenyon is probably the single most underrecognized defender in the league right now - all season long, he has, for the most part, been playing on an elite Artest/Bowen type level. He can guard - and has guarded - every position on the floor. Billups, as the higher profile player in a headline making trade, gets most of the attention/credit for Denver's improved defense, but the truth is that K-Mart is the heart and soul of the Nuggets' D - he's their defensive captain, both in name and in terms of his role. And the starting lineup's 4th option, flanked by Carmelo and Nene - both of whom are better scorers and rebounders than him, he's still carving out a niche where he's providing 12.9pts and 6.4 rbs, and he's 2nd among NBA frontcourt players (after only LeBron) in steals.
