View Full Version : ASW Rookie-Sophmore Game Thread (with annoying 8th grade chicks screaming)

DodgerFan4Life

Rookie-Sophomore showdown.

Rookie Team: Derrick Rose, O.J. Mayo, Micheal Beasley, Brook Lopez, Greg Oden, Marc Gasol, Eric Gordon, Rudy Fernandez, and Russel Westbrook

Sophomore Team: Rodney Stuckey, Jeff Green, Kevin Durant, Al Thornton, Al Horford, Aaron Brooks, Thadeus Young, Luis Scola, and Wilson Chandler

I believe the starting roster for the rooks was...
Rose, Gordon, Fernandez, Beasley, Gasol

and for the Sophomores
Stuckey, Green, Durant, Thorton, and Young.

Then again they were off of memory lol.

Also...

How annoying is that group of about 100 ****in 8th grade chicks that must scream at every make/rebound/substitution/wendy's commercial/soda purchase during the all star game! Its annoying as hell, anyone agree?

I present you with possibly the worst game thread in the history of PSD. You are indeed welcome.

Nice to see my OKC guys getting some love. Just hope it doesn't get over the top annoying to the rest of the country. The NBA has a tendency to push things in your face to the point where you want to smack David Stern upside the head.

I'm biased because I get to see Jeff Green play all the time but I truly think Jeff gives you more than Beasley at this point. I was concerned last year with Jeff's progress but he has made drastic improvements. He is stroking the 3 ball at a +40pct and can play the 3 and 4. There has been talk around here that OKC was interested in Amare but would have to give up Jeff Green as part of the package along with expiring deals and a pick. I can tell you that there is a ton of hesitation from Thunder fans to give up Green. His ceiling seems to be really high and we are loving the idea of Durant, Green, and Westbrook playing together here for years to come.

Jeff Green is in the tayshawn prince mode. He does a little bit of everything, but does nothing exceptionally well.

Beasley is a future all star, that has the chance to be a superstar. Give me Beasley all day.

have no interest in this stupid game anymore. Not after they ROBBED Spencer Hawes and Jason Thompson of their spots. Greg Oden stole that spot on the rookie team from Jason Thompson purely because of the media attention he gets. Ridiculous. Not to mention the Rookie team has 3 C's and 1 PF... And at the same time the Sophomore has team has no real center which wouldn't be the case if Hawes was on the team. I can sort of understand why Hawes isn't there but if he was starter on the Kings he would be. Still the fact that Thompson didn't make it is ridiculous. There is no explanation for that other than the Kings getting the shaft from the league.

Totally agree. So many rook-soph games are 40 point blowouts. They have more highlight reel footage than tonight's game, but they're not competitive at all - might as well just call those "exhibitions" instead. This one was a real game, and until the final couple of minutes it really could have gone either way.

Except for the fact that Kenny said this was one of the best Rook/Soph games he's seen in a long time. Or the fact that he credited the game for actually being competitive and guys not throwing oops all over the place. You dropped the ball.

Anyway, this game was very entertaining to me. Nobody wants to see the Sophs just destroy the rookies every time. This game IMO proved how good this '08 class will be. So much young talent was on the floor in this game.

I thought it was a pretty entertaining game actually.. Besides the girls screaming. Oklahoma city is going to be crazy good in a few years, they already have Durant, Westbrook and Green plus a very high lottery pick and 2 late first round picks this year.. They're gonna be unreal. I normally just watch it to see how these young guys are doing, but I ended up enjoying the game a lot more than previous years. Well, besides when Lee won the MVP, but still.

Durant may very well end up being a legit 7 footer by this time next year. I believe he just turned 20 in September, he still has a year to grow. Durant is about 6'10 in his shoes and Beasley is closer to 6'8.

drop my balls in your mouth, its kennys job to say every game is good, because every year he say"this was thee best one ever". stop believing every thing you hear and read between the lines. the game wasnt even exciting and it was close throughout. the lebron/amare one was the best to recent memory because it had flash. this was like a d-league game

Yeah, I know for the Pre-draft measurements Beasley was measured at 6'7.5" with out shoes. As for Durant, I think he's already a legit 6'9" with no shoes, so 6'10" in shoes sounds about right.

How crazy was Durant last night?!? 46 points on 17/25!

Exactly, I hate clowns like that. I watch basketball to see good basketball, there is nothing wrong w/ a nice shootout...but I prefer solid ball. The same goes for football IMO, I love a great defensive struggle.

Dude, I'm a Nuggets fan. Or in other words, I love watching great offense as well as great defense (probably even moreso - it does pack a more exciting punch, after all), and "offense makes a basketball game bad" is not what I'm saying at all.

What I am saying is, "a total lack of competitiveness makes a basketball game bad". When the rook-soph games turn into total blowouts, as they usually do, and guys are just messing around out there and not taking the game seriously at all anymore, well it might still be good entertainment, but it's not good basketball, and it's not a good game.

DenButsu
02-14-2009, 08:53 PM
Just to add to ^that, the best All-Star games, imo, usually start out with a lighter, more playful atmosphere but gradually (and sooner is better than later) morph into better games as the players' "man, I really want to win this" mojo starts to kick in and they raise their level of play and competition to a more serious level... not too serious, but enough to make it a good contest.
