View Full Version : Eastern Conference Playoff Seeds

I wanted to start a thread projecting the playoff seeds in the Eastern Conference. This will probably just turn into a homer thread, but here it goes.... I'll start....

Comment if you want or post your own projections.

1. Celtics - Big three will come through and bring home the 1st seed
2. Cavaliers - Cavs won't slow down, will finish with the 2nd seed
3. Magic - still clearly the 3rd best team in the east
4. Sixers - one of the hotter teams now, doing much better with brand out
5. Hawks - they are legit and know they can win now. They'll finish over .500 and end up with 5th seed.
6. Heat - The oneal trade should help them improve a little bit. A healthy wade and oneal in the playoffs could make this team dangerous. I could see them beating the magic in a series.
7. Pistons - They're struggling, but they have too much veteran leadership and talent to miss out on the playoffs. Watch out for this team in the playoffs.
8. Bobcats - Aren't that far out now, and have vastly improved with the additions of bell, diaw, and radmanovic, as well as the emergence of augustin. This team actually has pretty good depth now and decent talent.

The nets could be in the mix as well... with VC, lopez, and harris playing well, anything can happen, but this team cant seem to win on a consistent basis.

I don't think the sixers will be that high. The same thing happened last year and cooled down some late in the season

Im hoping to see the knicks in that 8th seed...thats my homer pick but realistically, I agree with your picks I would just change 4. 5. and 8. I think the Hawks will get the 4seed sixers 5. Nets 8thseed

Bobcats 8th seed? Aren't they like in the bottom 3 of the East lol? I would put Sixers like 6 and Heat 5 and Hawks 4. Pistons slipping and are not even a title contender anymore lol.

The Heat, Pistons and Hawks will be fighting for the 4,5,6 seed

The Sixers will get the 7th seed and be happy about

being a miami heat fan im only worried about boston and dwight howard (notice i say dwight howard) and i guess a bit from the cavs but miami always plays well against them

Sixers started 18-32 last season, finished 40-42 taking two games from Detroit in the first round.

I predict that we will make the 4th seed, here's why.

This season sixers started TERRIBLY, but we are now 27-24.

Here are the scores from the last 18 games.... please note that these games have been all without Brand and a NEW head coach who is enforcing a NEW system that is making us a better team.

vs Houston: W 104-96
@ Milwaukee:W 110-105
vs Charlotte: W 93- 87
@ Atlanta: W 109-94
vs Portland: W 100-79
vs San Antonio: W 109-87
@ New York: W 107-97
vs Dallas: L 93-95 (buzzer beater loss)
vs New York: W 116-110
@ New Orleans: L 86-101
@ Houston: W 95-93
vs Washington: W 104-94
vs New Jersey: L 83-85
vs Boston: L 99-100 (buzzer beater loss)
vs Indiana: W 99-94
vs Miami: W 99-84
vs Phoenix: W 108-91
vs Memphis: W 91-87

We rarely get blown out as you can see. All of these games have been close or Sixers wins since the new system has been put in place.

During that span Andre Iguodala has stepped up and averaged
22.3 ppg, 6.1 rpg, 5.7 apg, and 1.7 spg on 48% FG and 37% 3 Point. Hes playing at an all star level and has really turned into a solid go to guy.

Elton Brand will be missed but Marreese Speights has been filling in the gap nicely (put up 24 and 7 in 24 minutes against Phoenix this week, and 18 7 and 3 blocks in a win over miami).

Everyone on this team has turned it on and the 3 point shooting has vastly improved.

the sixers are an exciting team to watch and i gaurantee they make the 4th seed just like i callled how theyd make the playoffs last year. Its all about heart and the sixers have tons of it.

Sixers are kidding themselves if they think they have not been better without Brand so it's not like they have truly been playing shorthanded.

This is the closest that I have seen so far. Atlanta & Miami might flip flop, but I have a feeling that in April/May you might be pulling this list back out.
