McGrady Could Be Out For Season

POSTED: Wednesday, February 11, 2009
[Tracy McGrady]
Tracy McGrady
HOUSTON -- Rockets guard Tracy McGrady could miss the remainder of the season, according to sources close to Local 2 sports. An MRI revealed missing cartilage in his left knee, which may require microfracture surgery to repair.

The possibility remains, however, that McGrady will try to finish the season. Dr. James Andrews, generally regarded as the premier orthopaedic surgeon in the country for this type of injury, will review the MRI before a final decision is made. Andrews advised those close to McGrady, that a microfracture surgery should only be used in a career saving situation.

McGrady and the Rockets will discuss options in a meeting at Toyota Center prior to tonight's game against Sacramento. At this point, the Rockets have no comment on the situation.

Time for him to retire...he never seemed to have much of a passion for the game--if he does have that fire he'll spend a huge chunk of time rehabbing to come back and be a shell of his former self (ala Darius Miles).

LoL Bring Steve Francis back to the starting line up or better yet: STARBURY! They'd be more reliable and more productive than T-Mac at this point.

LMAO at all those Rocket fans before the season began when you thought the championship was yours when you got Ron Artest and give the Lakers trouble. I guess you are facing reality now. Now if Tracy is out for the season, no way he is getting traded.

Microfracture surgery takes over a year to recover from and with Tracy's lack of work ethic and lack of desire to rehab as of late, he will probably be out next year as well.

At least Antoine Walker can hit a 4-pointer ;)

Well, time to offer him for garbage to everyone in my league. Not like he was being productive, anyway.

this actually makes the Houston Rockets a better TEAM, im laughing at the Jazz clown who comments when his team is on the outside looking in, quite humorous.

Wow. This guy simply does not know how to stay healthy. It's kind of pathetic. He is definitely not a superstar anymore IMO, and he hasn't been for a long time. You can't be a star if you never play. There's also the fact that he folds like a lawn-chair in the playoffs.

T-Mac will go down as one of the biggest wastes of talent ever. The guy couldn't work an office job without getting hurt. If he stayed healthy, could've had a HOF career.

It is common in other sports for injuries to hamper a player so much, but not so much in basketball

Rockets will always be the team to look out for, but once the season starts nobody hears from them again.

thats not even cool. but you knoe this all stems from not getting in the gym. i mean he hasn't even developed any kind of body like kobe did. you can tell kobe was in the gym in the summer.

Rockets guard Tracy McGrady has been ruled out of tonight’s game against the Sacramento Kings because of on-going problems with his left knee.
McGrady underwent an MRI examination that revealed no new injury or other changes since previous tests and diagnoses, the Rockets announced Wednesday. The Rockets said holding him out of tonight's game was a "precautionary" measure.
McGrady has missed 16 games this season while trying to rehabilitate his knee after last May’s surgery. He played in seven of eight games since returning from two weeks of conditioning, missing one with a sprained ankle. He made 1 of 9 shots Monday in the loss in Milwaukee.
McGrady is averaging 15.6 points per game, making a career-low 38.8 percent of his shots

Guess he might not be out.

If he's ok that's bad news for the rockets, T Mac is a ball hog who ruins a team. He's a great talent but he just doesn't have what it takes to help a team progress in the playoffs. He's a choker. I don't hate the guy, I just hate hearing everybody talk about how the Rockets are so amazing and they're not. They screw up every year, well at least since TMac came along.
