This was on ESPN Sports Nation:

Which player from the last two drafts would be your first pick to build a team around?

The 5 choices were:

Michael Beasley
Kevin Durant
OJ Mayo
Greg Oden
Derrick Rose

i think its best to build around big men since they are hard to come by

Before the season I would have taken Oden. Now I'm not sure about him. Too inconsistent.

To me it is between Durant and Rose.

Basically do you prefer a Rose and Deng combo or Hinrich and Durant combo?

Maybe not on NBA 2k9, but they do in the real world...

I usually would go with the big man, but I went with Rose in this situation. Oden isn't yet a top tier big man in my opinion, but Rose is the third best PG.

It's between Durant and Rose to me, but I'll pick Durant. I pick him because I think he's gonna be the better player overall, and I think his body-frame being 6-10 and a SG is insane. He'll be a player we've never seen before IMO, kind of like how KG was to the SF position in his early years.

In order:

1. Durant
2. Rose
3. Oden
4. Mayo
5. Beasley

Kevin Durant has been playing out of his mind lately...I'd go with him no question, followed by Derrick Rose and then Michael Beasley.

I am sticking to my boy Oden... His stats is not as impressive as the others but I stil believe he will be a force to be reckoned with in the future... Next player I would say is Derrick Rose... A center and a true pg who can score are the hardest to find these days... Trigger happy sgs or sfs can be found every draft... Unless its Lebron, I'd rather have a pg or a center...

I would say build around a big man like Oden but he looks and plays like hes 40. I've got to go with Durant. Ok City could have a nice team in a few years with Durant, Jeff Green, Russell Westbrook, and the 3 first rounders they have this year.

Durant then Rose.

Durants the best now, yes, but great shooting guard and small forwards are not nearly as rare as great point guards. No question im taking Rose here.

Right now, Durant.

Durant has a chance to be in that elite superstar group along with LeBron and Kobe. Rose is going to be a star no doubt, but Durant's talent is just too rare to pass up.

Yao carries my team on 2K9

totally not the point but for what it's worth, I usually find that in simulation on 2k9 the guards are way overvalued and the big men are way undervalued.
Like Dwight Howard averages ten boards a game, maybe 11.

The best centers usually see a dip in production between what they actually do and what the simulation suggests they do. Like, through four simulated seasons I did Brook Lopez's career high in points was 24, when he's already surpassed that number numerous times this season alone.
(and it's not like he was rated poorly - he was a 96 by his second year in the sim, and basically stuck around that area.)
