Dallas Mavericks sixth man Jason Terry sustained a broken bone in his left hand in the first half and missed the rest of Saturday night's game against the Chicago Bulls.

Terry, who entered the game as the team's second-leading scorer with an average of 20.2 points, took the final shot of the first half, an unsuccessful 41-foot heave.

He was ruled out of the game at halftime after X-rays revealed the break, finishing with eight points and four assists in 16 minutes.

Terry told Mavericks officials he wasn't sure when the break occurred.

His condition will be evaluated on Sunday.

That's a huge loss for Dallas. Especially with their current lack of depth.

Wow, that's terrible for the Mavs. I don't know how bad the break is, but hopefully he's back for them within two months. I had a really bad break in my hand this summer (snapped the bone just under the knuckle on my left little finger), had surgury a week or two later, and my cast came off about a month after that.

A few weeks after that I was playing bass and guitar again (Doc told me it was a good way of rehabbing it :D). Since Terry will be getting the best treatment money can buy, he should be back in good time for the Mavs.

No man, you definately want him back and healthy for the Mavs when you play them. You want everyone at their strongest in the regular season, that way you're in much better position, more experienced and more poised in the play-offs.

WOW! This is gonna hurt our bench alot man I hope he didn't hurt is shooting hand.

Calling from my own experience again, it shouldn't really affect his shooting ability too much (it didn't mine). I had some struggles being able to lift weights after my break, but it never really affected my basketball abilities. I suppose if the break is closer to his wrist it could make it more difficult for him though

Lakers, Magic, Bobcats, Bucks, Dallas, Rockets

San Antonio, Cleveland and Denver have had some big ones as well.

Do you guys think this effect the Mavs trade market?? Link above provides a source to trade that would send Howard for Bargnani... what do you guys think???

I don't know too much about Barnani's game, but from what I understand he's a big guy who like to play away from the basket. If that's true, he wouldn't mesh well with Dirk.

That sucks. For Dallas and my fantasy team. I had him winning 6th man this year.
