Of course I want the Lakers to win, but i'm going to give the upper-hand to the Celtics. They are on homecourt, and Lakers don't have Bynum.. Even if Bynum was in the line-up, I think I would still give the edge to Celtics cause they are playing at home.

The only way I can see the Lakers pulling this victory is *IF* KG does not play, and I see no reason why he wouldn't play. Also, Lakers will need a 3rd person to step it up, Lamar (are you kidding me) Odom. This will be a great game to see.

Good luck Celtics.

Yup!

Except for I think it probably gets ugly in the 2nd half. I think we stay within 8 - 10 points for much of the 1st half only to get blown out in the 3rd and 4th quarters when the legs start going and booties start getting tight..

Lamar Odom, Pau Gasol, along with the Lakers bench, are key for the Lakers IMO. If they play well, then LA has a shot.

Gasol needs to assert himself early on and show KG he's not going to back down. Odom needs to not blow. The bench needs to make their jumpers (Sasha, Vlade, Farmer). Ariza gets a chance to go against Pierce too. He will need to contain Paul.

So my prediction was right. I said if Odom has a big game Lakers will prevail, and Lakers needed EVERYTHING he gave. His final 2 free throws (surprisingly) went in. I get scared when Odom goes to the line! Great game, it just made my night.

Man I love how Kobe and Pierce guarded each other at the end... that was definitely my favorite part of the game. I don't think you can call that foul on Ray Allen, it looked like he lost balance and kinda flopped at the end. Either way Celts are still solid, and its gonna be nice to see them and the Cavs battle it out in the east.

Look at the FG% for Odom, Pau and Kobe..

Dont start that, I am positive you always want to shrug off Lebrons shooting % against the Celtics and say he still had a great game because he put up good stats.

You cant change your argument now. So by your estimation Kobe had a great game with 26 points 10 rebounds 5 assist 2 blocks and 1 steal, along with 3 huge shots to get the Lakers back in the game

yeah.. the good thing for the Lakers is they win without Bynum, twice against the Celts and this was.. what, something like 4th game in 6 nights. That should build some confidence if they meet again in the finals.

Look at the FG% for Odom, Pau and Kobe..

Pretty sure Pau was over 50% and Odom was close if not over it. Kobe had a rough game but still had 26 points.

As for Allen 'tripping', he didn't. Fisher was reaching and Allen was pushing off so that's what we call a good non-call. Then he was just stuffed.

I think Kobe did have a good game, and they won. I still think he could have easily lost it for them if the Celts made some buckets while Kobe was chucking up shots and missing. Am I wrong?

More to the point, Pau and Odom were having a lot of success so perhaps the ball should have been in their hands for at least one or two of those possessions. Conversely.. recall one of the last plays for the Celtics where Pierce gave up the ball to Big Baby (who missed the jumper). The shot wasn't there so he gave it up to someone who was open.

You're right. Looking at his stats, it looks nice. But his FG and FT percentage was crap. If it wasn't for the last 3 three pointers he threw up, Lakers would of lost it.

Celtics could of, should of, but didn't get the baskets they needed.

No, your right, but I thought by you telling the other guy to look at Kobe's field goal %, you were implying he had a bad game. I do agree they should have went to Pau more, he had it going tonight. Lamar should just catch and dunk in my opinion. He played a great second half, but he scares me with the ball a lot of the time.

Lakers showed nothing but heart......no 1 thought the Lakers really had a shot winning this game on a back2back 3 games in 4 nights in 3 different cities, without Bynum there starting center, missing 14 FT's, Kobe shooting poorly.

The difference is this year when the Lakers are getting pushed, they are now pushing back! Bynum wuill only make the Lakers that much stronger.

Ariza was quite but had a lot of nice plays and guarded Pierce nicely

Odom does play better when he starts but are you guys forgetting how Bynum was playing? He was dominate......and against Duncun, Al Jefferson his last 6 games was averaging 26 14 and 3 blocks a game!

Also Bynum takes away that big advantage they had tonight and thats offensive rebounds and easy lay-ups

The 1 good thing about moving Bynum to the bench is he would get A LOT more touches when the bech comes in, they would run the offense through him

LA Baby!!

There's always gonna be excuses. If anyone had excuses it was LA. 3 games is four nights, the second of a back to back, OT, missing free throws, no Bynum. Recipe for disaster. Gives us some rest and Bynum and see what we do then.

Garnett had the flu? Yeah, well Kobe needs surgery. Suck it up big boy!

Honestly the Lakers are better with Gasol and Odom starting then they are with Bynum and Gasol starting.

I think it depends on the match ups. Lamar is a good match up for most teams. But against the Celtics and Cavs, Bynum has to start for the Lakers to be successful. VS the Celtics, he makes Perkins have to guard him and not allow KG to roam and guard the basket because he knows Lamar cant hit a jumper. He has to stay on Pau. It might open up the lane for the perimeter players a little.

Against the Cavs, Bynum is essential because he can contest Lebron when he gets to the paint. Lebron is going to go right through Gasol. When Lebron seen Bynum back there just waiting, he settled for jump shots.

Bynum's absence was felt tonight, especially in the rebounding and block shot categories. We need him to clog up the middle and block shots. The Celtics were grabbing a pleuthra of offensive boards, if we had Bynum it would not have been going down like that. We also could have used Bynum's touch around the rim to soften up the defense. Bynum has a good post game and great touch around the rim.

I felt like the game was going to be close, but I knew it would be tough especially after a back to back. Kobe looked especially tired down the stretch, he seemed to be settling for a lot of jumpers as oppossed to attacking. Great win for LA, we didn't allow Boston to intimidate us and that was huge. Odom and Gasol stepped up for us tonight....

Both teams did not do so well.... but that should be expected because they are playing each other.

The refs made some horrible calls.

Garnett was fouled by Gasol right before he fouled out ( he got a lot of hand)
Fisher did not foul peirce at the end.....
etc.

Lakers would have shot better free throw % if they had shaq... holy crap.

And even though big baby came up with some critical plays at the end... i think he was 1/6 while poe was having a monster game with eddie house. Doc should have left them both out... or atleast one of them out since rondo was playing pretty good as well.

I agree. The one takes the shot opportunities from the other, which only makes one of them effective.

This might be the year for those Lakers, though... Of the four teams really competing for the Finals, three of them are in the EC, which means the Lakers only have to beat one superteam, while anyone in the EC has to beat two, and THEN face the Lakers.

Still a part of me wants to see a Lakers-Celtics finals really bad. The Lakers are the top team in the league right now, even after the Bynum injury.

That team is so loaded...just scary. Meanwhile Boston fought admirably despite not nearly having the depth of that Lakers team. It could've gone either way.

Boston might want to attempt to shore up their bench depth some before the trade deadline.

Some of their players are better, notably Rando..And they're missing a couple of guys, notably Posey..But what stands out to me is that they are such a trash talking team that it seems as if they're yelling at eachother on the court..Im not sure their chemistry is the same..Too many vocal leaders..Most notably when they lost in LA..In that loss Rando and Allen almost came to blows..Subsequently they lost 6 in a row..If this keeps up, I see a complete meltdown in the playoffs..

Some of their players are better, notably Rando..And they're missing a couple of guys, notably Posey..But what stands out to me is that they are such a trash talking team that it seems as if they're yelling at eachother on the court..Im not sure their chemistry is the same..Too many vocal leaders..Most notably when they lost in LA..In that loss Rando and Allen almost came to blows..Subsequently they lost 6 in a row..If this keeps up, I see a complete meltdown in the playoffs..

completely dissagree. The yelling is a positive thing on the court. They all respect eachother incredibly i dont see it as a chemistry problem at all.

I would have rather seen this game on ABC then TNT.

3 in the EC? Cavs and Celtics are the only ones I can think of. Magic aren't going to the finals without their PG. Pistons? they're not good enough anymore.

Magic are definitely still contenders although they're way more of a dark horse without Nelson. (Although Nelson's long-term status is still in the air.) Although it's definitely useful, you don't need a star point guard to contend for the Finals, you need a quality big man and a complement somewhere else, which the Magic still have.

Well, I've never tried crack but I understand what you are saying. I schedule when I go to the gym around when the Lakers and Dodgers play. A lot of times at work, I find myself reading my phone on ESPN.COM for a preview of the nights match up, and then find myself reading the recap of the game. I listen to nothing but sports talk radio, my wife thinks I have a problem, I'm lucky she is a nurse and she works nights and it allows me to talk sports with you guys. Then she comes home at 11 and ruins all the fun :(

Thats funny my GF is a nurse also but I am lucky she lets me watch my games and she even watches some of them with me like last nights game, A big shut out to whoever invented the DVR! So she can watch her shows..

lol, I don't know if I would call that a "shove". And how is it "umph" when fisher does it, but when Pierce does it it's awful.

The reality is every player acts and if the refs aren't smart enough to see it then do you really think Pierce or any player for that matter will just stop doing it?

Because when Fisher does it, he is actually hit, but just falls a little harder. Paul Pierce lowers his shoulders into the opposing players chest, extends his arm into that players chest, and then screams/bobs his head backwards to draw the foul. There is a huge difference.

Frrrrank!!!
