Magic's Nelson has torn labrum
ESPN.com news services

ORLANDO, Fla. -- All-Star point guard Jameer Nelson could miss the rest of the season for the Orlando Magic because of a torn labrum in his right shoulder.

An MRI exam revealed the injury Tuesday, the team announced.

Nelson will decide over the next week whether he will have surgery or attempt rehabilitation. If surgery is the option, his season is likely over. If he passes on the surgery, he'll still most likely be out at least several weeks.

The best-case scenario for the Magic is that Nelson could return in a matter of weeks without needing surgery, then proceed with an operation in the summer if necessary. The risk with this type of injury, however, is that repeated dislocations can result without surgery to stabilize the shoulder.

Devastating loss for the Magic, great gain for the Cavs and Celtics

Wow that's devastating for Orlando. I wonder if there's any type of trade they can make to get them a PG for the rest of the season?

They're guard spot is now paper thin without Nelson. Without a decent replacement they might not be advance deep into the playoffs.

Maybe Felton to ORL?

02-03-2009, 06:46 PM
wow that really sucks for the magic. Are the Bobcats looking to trade Felton?

Jared Jack, Stephon Marbury, Jamaal Tinsley.

Either of those 3 can end up being a Magic before the deadline.

Just watching PTI and they suggest maybe TJ FORD or Believe it or not Starbury.

lol they better get on the phones with Donnie Walsh about that Marbury dude. We need to get rid of him.

02-03-2009, 07:22 PM
no way Marbury ends up in Orlando with his salary

02-03-2009, 07:34 PM
Man, that would really suck. So Johnson becomes the stating PG??

02-03-2009, 07:45 PM
Ouch! Poor Magic.

02-03-2009, 07:48 PM
This could actually affect the Celtics as well. There's probably going to be some rumours about Marbury going to Orlando to start, which is going to make it very difficult for him to get his buy-out.

its actually a blessing bec their will be no more ball hog.

Or it could be detrimental because the team doesn't have a facilitator who can create his own shot.

that sucks for the Magic. He was playing really well, all star infact. Hope he gets better. Hate to see injuries happen to players.
