i was reading one of JA Adande's chat wraps and there were some questions who had the best all star squad in history. I say the 1990 East squad had the best all star team in history with:

EAST ALL-STARS (130)
Player, Team Min. FGM FGA FTM FTA Reb. Ast. Pts.
Charles Barkley, Philadelphia 22 7 12 2 3 4 0 17
Larry Bird, Boston 23 3 8 2 2 8 3 8
Patrick Ewing, New York 27 5 9 2 2 10 1 12
Michael Jordan, Chicago 29 8 17 0 0 5 2 17
Isiah Thomas, Detroit 27 7 12 0 0 4 9 15
Kevin McHale, Boston 20 6 11 0 0 8 1 13
Joe Dumars, Detroit 18 3 4 1 2 1 5 9
Robert Parish, Boston 21 7 11 0 1 4 2 14
Reggie Miller, Indiana 14 2 3 0 0 1 3 4
Dominique Wilkins, Atlanta 16 5 10 2 2 0 4 13
Dennis Rodman, Detroit 11 2 4 0 0 4 1 4
Scottie Pippen, Chicago 12 2 4 0 0 1 0 4
Totals 240 57 105 9 12 50 31 130

but the 1987 squad could also be in that running with:

EAST ALL-STARS (149)
Player, Team Min. FGM FGA FTM FTA Reb. Ast. Pts.
Larry Bird, Boston 35 7 18 4 4 6 5 18
Dominique Wilkins, Atlanta 24 3 9 4 7 5 1 10
Moses Malone, Washington 35 11 19 5 6 18 2 27
Julius Erving, Philadelphia 33 9 13 3 3 4 5 22
Michael Jordan, Chicago 28 5 12 1 2 0 4 11
Isiah Thomas, Detroit 24 4 6 8 9 3 9 16
Kevin McHale, Boston 30 7 11 2 2 7 2 16
Bill Laimbeer, Detroit 11 4 7 0 0 2 1 8
Jeff Malone, Washington 13 3 5 0 0 2 2 6
Charles Barkley, Philadelphia 16 2 6 3 6 4 1 7
Maurice Cheeks, Philadelphia 8 1 2 2 2 0 0 4
Robert Parish, Boston 8 2 3 0 0 3 0 4
Totals 265 58 111 32 41 54 32 149

and as well for the 1996 East squad which in my opinion had the best starting 5 for an all star team ever.

Anfernee Hardaway ORL 31 6 8 .750 2 4 .500 4 4 1.000 0 3 3 7 2 0 3 0 18

Hmm 1996 ehh not so much compared to the other 2.

As far as the 1987 or 90 team what would you prefer

Moses Malone Patrick Ewing
Bill Lambier Denis Rodman
Jeff Malone or Scottie Pippen
Julius Erving Joe Dumars
Mo Cheeks Reggie Miller

Lol, I don't know tough call. How about one of my personal favorites 2001 East All star team

C D.Mutombo
F A.Davis/A.Mason
F V.C/Sprewell/G.Robinson
G T.Mac/J.Stackhouse/A.Houston/R.Allen
G AI/S.Marbury

i just think the 96 starting 5 was real good. i mean you had shaq who wasnt in his prime but still the best center in the game. penny who was lighting up the stat sheet very similar to wade is doing. grant hill who everyone said was goin to be the next jordan and was probably the second best player in the nba and of course jordan in his prime and pippen as well. i mean just the starting 5, not the whole squad its self
