View Full Version : LeBron James: most athletic professional athlete in history?

LeBron has such a freakish combination of strength, speed, jumping ability and just raw athleticism. I've never seen anything like it. Someone who's 6-9 but runs the floor like a guard and can guard Dwight Howard in the post if he ever needed to. It's just unreal. Is he the most athletic professional athlete in history?

No disrespect but todays athletes are quicker, stronger and faster than ever before. I would say it's a tossup between Dwight Howard and Lebron James. I say Lebron.

You know LeBron could have played football right? He was recruited as a freshmen and sophomore by every major skool and was down 2 miami, USC, michigan and ohio state before deciding to focus only on basketball.

You could definitely fit Vernon Davis into the equation, albeit his freak-athleticism and size haven't translated into domination like it has with Lebron.

Lebron isn't on the same level of athlete as Wilt was. 1. Jim Thorpe 2. Wilt, then comes everybody else.

What can I say, I love LeBron. That's why I mortgaged my entire redraft team to get him, and we still made the 2nd round :). Rafer, Monta, Bron, Diaw Dalemberts still a solid team though, bet if it was last year we could have won the whole thing.

Oh any by the way, Wilt was a freak for his time, but in modern times he would have been only slightly above average. People forget that there weren't ANY 7 footers back then other than Wilt and Russell, so Wilt was such an anomoly when he came into the league because they'd never seen anything like him. Think Yao Ming when he came to the league at 7'6'' and nobody was near him. If Wilt had to play against today's centers like Dwight Howard and Amare Stoudemire he wouldn't have been anywhere near as succesful. I'm not saying he'd have been a bad player but he wouldn't average 50 and 20 per game and he wouldn't have come close to 100 points in a game.

Weren't any 7' footers?
How about Kareem abdul Jabbar for 3 years at his peak.
And there were other 7 footers but the power centers were Nate Thurmond & Walt Bellamy both muscle bound 6'11" centers.

And you forget the centers weren't watered down back then, there weren't 30 teams. So 2/3 of todays starting centers would be selling shoes back then.

Imagine how much tougher it would be if every night you had to play against just the best 1/3 of todays centers....no patsy's. And that also means a team could choose as their backup center from 20 starting centers today.

Lebron is definitely the most athletic person in any sport.

Imagine the dude was able to hit a jump shot?

He can guard Dwight in the post but not Kobe? Interesting. I wouldn't give the most athletic to an NBA player, though. It would probably go to a football player. Barry Sanders as the previous poster suggested.

No you think correct when you say Bo Jackson...soon as lebron is a pro in two sports you can say that but bo and deion were and...and bo was at the top level of both being and all star in baseball and pro bowl in football.

Could lebron do it...i certainly wouldnt doubt it...but he hasnt so you can say it
