1 (4) Celtics 37-9 It's not just the way they smoked Phoenix, smothered Orlando and then disassembled Dallas in a span of seven days. The champs are back up here for how firmly they've hit back at this season's first dose of adversity.
2 (3) Lakers 35-8 So do you think the Lakers -- fresh off toasting the Spurs and fully healthy for the first time in weeks -- are secretly freaked because they've played more home games and fewer roadies than anyone else? Us, neither.
3 (2) Cavaliers 34-8 As clutch as they've looked on the road since MLK Day -- with wins at Portland, Golden State and Utah -- those who believe these Cavs have the depth to survive the Delonte and Big Z injuries appear to have a case.
4 (1) Magic 33-10 There is a small downside to starting out 33-8, sweeping the Spurs and Lakers, winning 17 of your first 22 road games and going 18-4 against the West. All that magic is a lot to live up to in the next 41 games.
5 (5) Spurs 29-14 How stunning was that loss at Staples? Stunning for only one reason: Minnesota -- yes, that 'Sota -- has the league's best record in 2009 at 9-2, with the Lakers moving into second at 10-3 and the Spurs now 9-3.
6 (6) Nuggets 29-15
7 (11) Rockets 28-17
8 (7) Hornets 26-14
9 (9) Trail Blazers 26-17
10 (13) Heat 23-19
11 (15) Hawks 26-17
12 (10) 76ers 21-21
13 (8) Suns 24-18
14 (14) Mavericks 25-19
15 (12) Jazz 25-20
16 (21) Timberwolves 15-27
17 (17) Bobcats 18-26
18 (18) Pistons 24-19
19 (19) Pacers 17-27
20 (24) Knicks 18-25
21 (16) Bucks 22-25
22 (22) Nets 20-24
23 (23) Raptors 18-28
24 (25) Warriors 14-31
25 (20) Bulls 18-27
26 (26) Thunder 9-35
27 (27) Grizzlies 11-32
28 (30) Clippers 10-33
29 (29) Wizards 9-34
30 (30) Kings 10-35

the celtics proved one thing last year. An NBA Championship ring costs about $60 mil and about 10 years of having a terrible team. They also proved that all their fans are good at jumping....................onto the bandwagon! GO LAKERS!!!!!!

sixers at 12. thats a sight for sore eyes.

hopefully brand can step back in and fill his role like we want him too.

Iguodala has been BEASTLY over the past 10 games though

24.5 ppg, 6.4 rpg, 6.8 apg, 2.3 spg, 55% FG, and .526% 3PFG (he has made 20 in that span)

The Sixers are beating teams that they are supposed to (9-1 over the last 10) including wins over: Charlotte, Milwaukee, New York (twice)

but dominant wins over:

Atlanta (by 15 points)
Houston (by 8 points)
San Antonio (by 22 points)
Portland (by 21 points)

the sixers are a team to watch no doubt.

Are you kidding me. you could hear a duck fart at the staples center last year during the finals. Lakers fans should check themselves before they say anything. Oh and how many times has Kobe been **** on by Lakers fans, oh yeah, every time he asked to be traded, which was alot. And the price tag.. well sometimes you got to make your own luck, because Lenny B proved that the lottery don't love the celtics.

"The brilliant trade the Lakers made today, in which they traded a sack of leftovers to Memphis for the Spanish power forward, is a far better move than anything they could have done with Jason Kidd and puts the finishing touches on a seemingly overnight transformation from one-man team into title-contending juggernaut.
.

Man, you would have thought you would have taken down that quote after the way Gasol played in the finals last year (the one the Celtics won).

If Gasol had played like that in a town that has real basketball roots like New York, Boston, Philadelphia or Detroit the fans would be throwing tampons at him.

I think the Lakers should be on top because of the way they beat the Celtics on Christmas but we'll see what happens after they meet in Boston.

i really dont think the celtics should be one. the win over the magic was not that impressing because the magic missed shots they usually make and i think the magic beat themselves and dallas has sucked and been gettin blown out by teams like the bucks and phoenix is definitely under achieving. i think it should be LA because they beat the spurs and have been crushing other teams as well ever since their loss to the magic. the heat at 10? wow if wade does get miami close to 50 wins he should be the mvp. what a beast he is.

Always turns into a Boston - Lakers thing lol

Being a Kings fan basketball kinda sucks right now but ive watched a lot of Laker and Celtic games. Here is what i see

Fisher - Rondo = I take fisher here because you cant just lay off him because he can hit the open shot. Rondo who has flashes of great games can be played off to double others because he cant shoot.

Kobe - Allen = This really isnt a challenge here but you have to remember Allen can have a big night every now and then but he is way to INCONSISTANT. Kobe needs to be doubled which creates so many open shots for teamates

Walton - Pierce = This is where Walton bends over and lets pierce go at him with no lube lol Pierce can dominate this matchup easily.

Gasol - Garnett = This is a great matchup where they both have good 15 footers, Gasol has the better post game, but Garnett has the better D but plays with more fire. Some nights Gasol will get the better of garnett other night vise-versa but a slight edge goes to Garnett

Bynum - Perkins = Everyday this looks more and more lopsided because Bynum is getting his conditioning back. Ive seen this guy get 40 and 15 the next night get 30 and 12 then go up against Duncun and block him 4 times and really do a number on Duncun both end of the court. bynum will murder perkins the aspect where Perkins has an edvantage is hustle plays. Perkins will fight and i like that. Bynum has the HUGE advantage here though

Lakers Bench - Celtics Bench = Celtics weaklink is there bench, with Powe, House, Davis, Walker really horrible bench and thats really a strong point for the Lakers with Odom, Ariza, Farmer, Sasha, Powell Lakers have the best bench in the NBA and at this point in the game the Lakers should dominate.

Home Court is a huge factor if these teams were to meet again because Boston at home really got to the FT line alot, i think 1 game we seen Powe get to the FT line 3 more times then the ENTIRE Laker team which shows you that something is def wrong there. When the games went to LA it seemed they didnt allow the Celtics to be as aggresive as they like to be, so even with the Lakers in my opinion being the better team it would most likely come down to who has home court advatage. Its Sad it comes down to that but we all know thats the truth:cool:

Now i dont know who all seen the Cavs vs Lakers game a couple weeks ago but that was the best officiated game ive seen in 20 years. There was no tricky-tac calls, also if the offensive player created all the contact to draw a foul guess what? you didnt get a whislte and thats how it should be. If somehow the game was officiated like that everygame then id say the Lakers in 6 with or without home-court

:pity: There Weekly rankings learn to read please. And the Heat beat the exact same teams + Orlando so by your logic that makes them #1 to? of course not ( for that and many more obvious reasons)

boston has got to be #1...defending champs proving again why they should be there... man ray allen can shoot the ball..when hes hot i think boston is incredibly hard to beat..he opens up the floor a lot

BTW in my opinion if the heat had a good center we'd be up there a 2 or 3 seed no doubt....a rookie pg right now and barely a center we are 5 games over .500...after hgetting our butts kicked by boston we go and take down orlando and atlanta...we surprising alot of people out there...watch out!

That might change.

We beat you tonight. we've been playing well lately (you haven't). 1.5 games behind you in the power rankings. With detroit's recent slump, and judging by the Heat's upcoming schedule (games vs. Wizards, Pacers, Clippers), we could be switching between the 4th and 5th spots in the East. We'll see who the better team is by the end of February......better yet, come playoff time. Wouldn't that be a great 1st round matchup?
