If LeBron tore his ACL at the very beginning of the season. What would happen?

Kohaku
01-26-2009, 12:07 AM
Then the "crap dribble" wouldn't have been invented.

prodigy
01-26-2009, 12:08 AM
why would you think like that?

But to answer the question, the NBA would take a pretty big hit. With the way the refs are letting people punch lebron in the face and throw him into the ground without even a foul being called, could be very bad for the NBA.

The Cavs would probably tank and then comeback better then ever next season.

I've no idea what would happen in the NBA, probably a lot of people would be sad. I know what would happen to the Cavaliers though. Somewhere around 10-15 wins at the end of a Lebron-less season sounds fair enough.

wouldnt be that big of a hit as youd think. there is plenty of star power in the NBA.

cavs on the other hand...completely ****ed.

nothing serious would happen.. but ESPN would have something to talk about for every remaining second of the season

David Stern would cry a lot

PRETTY BIRD!
01-26-2009, 12:28 AM
if that we're to happen, then the nba would do everything in its power to make sure, he (lecrab james) wins the championship the next year....

the cleveland browns would have to find a new starting tight end.

IversonIsKrazy

the cavs would break the record for most losses in a season, as they would finish with 5.

Iggydelphia

The more intriguing question to me than what would happen if LeBron got injured and was out for the season is, when you chose that user name were you serious?

yanks08

The NBA will file for bankruptcy!!!

the cavs would be a 7 or 8 seed in the playoffs and lose in the first round.

the nba would set a record for number of times a player is shown on the bench clapping for his teammates.

and probably a Reality TV show on ESPN called "Lebron James The Road to Recovery"

Well, if you're going to role play you should at least do some character research - Coby's playing in Spain now.

NBA would be devasted and please dont even put stuff out there like this. Cavs wouldn't make it thru the season. I think they might go bankrupt and have to sell the team. Cavs couldnt survive.

"Lebron James Road to Recovery". I can see it.

But seriously after every sportscenter, I can see them doing a little segment on Lebron James after each time.

The first thing that comes to my mind is the Cavs would suck and would suffer big time. Attendence will go down for the Cavs and the Cavs would miss the playoffs. Cavs organization would loose revenue. As far as the rest of the NBA of course it's going to continue, you move on.

If LeBron tore his ACL at the very beginning of the season. What would happen?

Nothing, he just wouldn't get MVP. From my knowledge a few of the all time greats have had serious injuries during the season where they missed a lot of games. MJ, Wilt and Bird come to mind.

Maybe a good thing? remember when robionson went down and a loaded spurs team got duncan?

Imagine if that had happend the last couple of years lets say Lebron goes down each year since hes been in the league and the cavs get lucky and get a really good pick
04-05 Howard
05-06 Paul
06-07 Roy?
07-08 Oden, Durant
08-09 Rose

Only problem is if they would draft right, or the superstar would be there to pair him with.

But in the long run it might be a good thing

DocUSN
01-26-2009, 01:37 AM
Also of im not mistaken jordan played like 20 games in 86-87 and in the 87 draft they took Olden Polynice, and traded him for Scottie Pippen and the rest is history.

Lets say sterns darling number 23 goes down, media tlaks about his injury everyday, nike executives need some pills to relax trought the years and the Lakers and Celtis make it to teh finals.

Wait... Deja vu!!!!

I have lived this before a looooong time ago....

New Yorkers wouldn't be jizzing in their pants for two straight years anymore.

The Colts would have gone 0-16 because Peyton Manning would have retired in a daring attempt to film all of LeBron's scheduled commercials in addition the his own. Manning almost completes the feat, but can't bring himself to even pretend to sign with the Cleveland Browns.

probably stern forces him to play no matter what, makes him take 20fts per game and score a lot :)

the league would move on, the NFL absorbed injuries to Brady and Merriman this year, and those two were arguably the marquis offensive AND defensive player

prodigy
01-26-2009, 03:02 PM
It will force the NBA to make the refs call some fouls for lebron the next season. Everyone in here who talks about lebron getting all the calls and is the NBA's baby knows nothing. WATCH A GAME!!! He gets jacked up all the time. anyone see the jazz game where he got punched in the face and not even a foul called.

also, the cavs would not be horrible with LBJ. Right now the team is so use to playing with him, so if he were to miss a couple games the cavs would suck. But if lebron missed the whole season, the team would be ok because they now know lebron can't help, so they would have to step up.

But they could also make a trade.

I would say anywhere from 30-40 wins could be possible. still better then the wiz, hornets, pacers, bucks and some other teams lol.

Cavs would be close to the bottom in the East.

I think Cavs would be 7th at best. Maybe they get a good draft pick and pick up a stud for the future alongside LBJ.

Wouldn't be nearly as big of a deal as you'd think. Remember when Jordan retired (for the last time), everyone was worried about what would happen to the NBA, how would the league market itself?? Well new stars came along and the world still turns.

Nothing would happen to the NBA if James had a season ending injury!

Kobe would make a bigger impact!!!!!!!!!!!!! And this is from a Detroit fan

Ethix11
01-26-2009, 06:44 PM
Good question. Alot of Eastern Teams would have a breath of fresh air. And would work even harder that season just because they know James doesnt stand in their way that season. I think teams would all focus on stopping the Celtics because that might be their only threat in the post season so alot of teams would step it up around beating them specifically.

Espn & Nike would close, David Stern will hang himself, the NBA will shut down causing riots all across USA, President Obama will call in the national guard but they won't be able to handle the situation so USA will explode.
