Dwight, LeBron and Josh Smith are top 3 IMO
I think it's LeBron over Dwight though

My homer pick: J.R. Smith

The "best" is always going to be a subjective thing, but J.R. sure has a lot of amazing in-game dunks. This (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p5u3iDAqPnA) was yesterday.

i gotta go with lebron and josh smith. i'd say smith is the best finisher on the alleyoop though. also, watchin the warriors/thunder game tonite kevin durant can get up there.

Lebron cuz he looks like a freakin jet when he goes up to dunk, but Josh Smith also looks sick cuz he takes the ball all the way back and hes a lefty, looks nice.

It's LeBron no question. It's not even funny when he goes up to dunk. I still say Vince for all time, but it's LeBron as of now.

I agree with the Vince all-time comment. Sure, he doesn't pull off some of the stuff he used to but my god, when he was in his prime...its not even fair some of the in game stuff he would do. He used to get soooo high and pull of such dirty dunks- not just in the open court but in traffic too. I am a Raptors fan and I get so sentimental watching highlights...

I don't think Lebron! The guy only does one handed dunks . Nothing special.VC does windmills, reverses everything. DON'T GET ME STARTED ABOUT HOWARD/.The guy only does power two handed dunks

well i agree 100% with you, his dunks get hyped up because he's "the goldenboy"

ricky davis dunks better than him, rudy gay etc

thank god lebron didnt enter the dunk contest that year he'd bore us to death

but i disagree with you about dwight, i think he's proven he can do sick dunks just not in games. his job is just get it in the basket

i know no one will agree and its kinda a homer pick on my part, but nate robinson is filthy. Hes listed at 5'9 but hes more like 5'8 and watching him dunk is nothing short of amazing every time i see it. I know hes not the absolute best but he definitely should get some consideration.

I don't see what you're trying to do.
Anybody can post videos of a player from their team making a great dunk.
J.R. Smith is a good dunker, yes, but nowhere close to the best.

LeBron (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1OsdchJGrqI&feature=related)
Carter (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ieXETZVLJa4&feature=related)
Josh Smith (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qp1KSMFNjWc)

Vince is the man he has done things no one can match and Lebron just does the same dunk over and over if he wants to be the best then join the dunk contest.

Josh Smith (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qp1KSMFNjWc)
IMO

I think J.R. dunks with much more creativity than LeBron - not with the same ferocity, but then unlike LBJ he wasn't brewed in a genetic laboratory. There are a lot of great dunkers on the Nuggets (Nene is 4th and K-Mart is 6th in the league in dunks) actually, but for degree of difficulty, flair and flourish, and level of athleticism involved, Smith is easily the best of them. I'd suspect you may have not seen too many Nuggets games this or last season if you don't know what I'm talking about.

And all I was doing by posting that example was showing an example. Did I ever say nobody else could provide some good youtube of other players dunks? Those are good clips you posted too, so thanks (although of course we've seen the VC one a gazillion times).

One of the things about "who's the best dunker" is that the question has no subtlety. For Dwight Howard to dunk and for J.R. Smith to dunk are completely different projects that originate from completely different physiques and require very different skill sets. I find J.R.'s more impressive because I think the degree of difficulty is higher.

Toss up between Rudy Gay and Lebron James.

Lebron and Wade are definitely the best at getting a high volume of dunks...........but I think Kobe is still the most creative dunker in the game. He's got the best style with all of those baseline reverses and graceful jams. I also really like watching Tmac throw it down. Here is probably my favorite dunk of all time by Kobe. I mean how do you even think about doing something like this? It's surely something I had never seen before, or since.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KaGcmyknSV8

Most players only have one or two "go to" dunks........I just think Kobe has the most variety.

That being said I've never seen anyone get as high above the rim as Lebron, it's pretty amazing. I just don't like that he does the same one handed tomahawk dunk every time. Have you ever seen his high school dunk contest video? Its pretty absurd, it looks like he's dunking on an 8 foot basket. He gets a full head above the rim.

i agree with best being a subjective thing.
best could be flashiest, or most effective, or most powerful, or even just who you like the best, etc.
