Clippers sign God to one-day contract

By J.E. Skeets

The Los Angeles Clippers today signed free agent power forward God to a one-day contract.

And no, we're not talking about International Basketball League guard God Shammgod. (Though they could probably use him too.) We're talking God God. The big guy up above. Apparently, he's got a great back-to-the-basket type of game and nice soft hands.

For the second consecutive year, the Clippers and Christian radio station 99.5 KKLA are offering free tickets to 250 pastors as part of "Pastors Appreciation Day" at the Staples Center on Monday.

The Clippers, who have lost 12 games in a row, will take on the Timberwolves at 12:30 p.m. With an 8-30 record, they could use the few extra prayers.

Janis Carr of the Orange County Register writes that the pastors get a private tour of the arena, lunch, fellowship and a ticket to watch the Clippers play the Wolves, "who could use a few rosary beads of their own. They are 11-26 overall and 5-13 on the road."

No word on whether they'll try and heal Chris Kaman's injured foot during half.

Why didn't the Knicks make a run at him? His contract expires before 2010.

God? Mike James is already with the Wizards.

I don't think you understand the power of Mike James. He can play for every team in the league on the same night without being in any building

I see him as a Tim Duncan kind of player. Unselfish and caring about team mates.

And on the seventh day, God blessed LA with the Lakers. The Clippers were also there, but no one cared about them.
