Yeah it should be an interesting game but I think the key matchup is Foye vs Wade since Collins doesn't play that much for us. I will be interested to see if the Wolves can beat a good Miami team since we have won 5 in a row so hopefully we keep it going vs Miami. Good luck

Quick question does Love come off the bench or is he injured ? Good luck btw

Love comes off the bench. He's played well and averages 8 points and 8 rebounds a game.

woh, i just realized you have mccants as a starter, he wont play a minute tomorrow unless its a blowout

We win again to push it to 6. On a roll.

I wouldnt get too overconfident. As impressive as our 5 game streak is, we have to realize that all 5 of those teams besides the Bulls are among the worst teams in the league right now, and the Bulls arent really much better, its just that I wouldnt call them among the worst.

The Heat arent really championship caliber, but they are dangerous, especially anytime you face Wade. I think it would be a fun matchup to see if Foye could get going early to counter a little bit of Wade.

McCants. lol.

Oefarmy2005
01-13-2009, 02:28 PM
I doubt that we beat Miami. Besides them being quite a bit better, I think the Wolves will start becoming complacent right about now. If we do win though, Jefferson is key since they do have one of the better interior defences in the league.

Listen to yourselves, no confidence in your own team...Foye with another good game tonight and wolves win

Foye
01-13-2009, 05:41 PM
I'm confident today ;)

As long as we keep Wade under control we can win this one again.

Make it 6 in a row.

I guess AL will have a good game...28 pts/14 rebs...Joel Anthony who is this? lol

Looking at the rosters the key match of todays game is clearly Calvin Booth versus Mark Blount!!!

Blount shoots better in 3 PTS (33%) than in FG overall (28%) rofl

Anyway seeing the roster of Miami I'm glad it is not ours
This team is just mediocre except of Wade, Marion, Beasley and maybe Chalmers and Haslem...

Thanks fins for making the game thread. I changed the time zone and the TV listing for the MN area since this is in the Wolves forum.

I do think that the Foye/Wade matchup will be a little more exciting than Jefferson taking Joel Anthony to school... ;)

Miami knows they are going to win. Seriously the Wolves cannot stop D-Wade in any way. Wade will get his 30pts and Beasley will come in and get his 20pts.

Foye is going to get raped by a bigger SG. Jefferson will get his 20pts. The Wolves lose.

Anyone else wonder why the word raped isn't censored but a lot of other words that have meanings that aren't near as bad are censored?

thesparky33

Raped is a very frequently used word here, but not sure why... I actually find myself using it in every day conversation from time to time, like "man, i got raped from those ticket prices for the game last night" and people just give me dirty looks like only a rapist would use the word rape.

No problem. Joel will be key, I hope he contains him enough with the help of Magliore. Joel is a D guy. Wade will get to Foye IMO.

Hey Tony,

I play the averages. Flash averages 29pts a game. He is for sure going to get his points this game against a smaller Foye.

I would like to see Foye hold his own but he has a long way to go before he can take on Wade.

Chalmers in a Timberwolves jersey would have been nice.

End of the first half. Good game so far. A couple of questionable calls, but what can ya do? You can't stop Wade; the kid is too good. I was hoping the pups would've gotten him in early foul trouble but no such luck. (I still say Beasley would've looked better in a Timberwolves jersey):p

Its really cool to see that Carney absolutely saw brewer going down as a huge oppurtunity and he ran with that oppurtunity. I also liked how Mchale had Carney guard Wade late in the second half, its what he woulda done with Brewer, and Carney took that challenge and did very well.

Mauersota
01-13-2009, 10:42 PM
We need to take some high quality shots to get some points on the board before the quarter ends were kinda stalling right now.

Except Brewer would have been torched. Carney is a better defender, (yes I said it) better running the floor, and a better shooter. I have been saying as soon as we got Carney that he should start and that he is very highly underrated. I need to find that thread about the trade.

Just looking at PPG

Harris 8.2 PPG improvement
Granger 6.2 PPG improvement and how can you nearly average 20 the previous year and be in the most improved "talk"
Foye's averaging about 18 PPG since Mchale took over which is about a 5 point difference which is still going up and pretty fast.

I'm starting to think the Wolves could be a good playoff team with the addition of 3 players: a back-up pg, a small forward (3rd best player) whose game fits with foye and al jeff, and a true center (more of a defensive player/shot blocker/rebounder). They could find the backup pg as a 3-4 year player in the league (like a Steve Blake or Ridnour). If they could pick up the small forward or center in the draft next year they could use their cap space to sign the other piece they don't draft. Wow, have I changed my opinions since 20 games ago!

haha your argument is funny... but hey i dont blame you for rooting on Foye

I wouldn't say funny but I'd say Foye should be mentioned for it maybe not win it.

I've been rooting for Foye for a long time, the only thing that worries me is that Foye is taking over the past however many games as the #1 option and just kinda of disappears. Even if puts up points he just doesn't seem to be the "force" he was.

On another forum someone said our bench should be nicknamed "Carney and the four white dudes" (Cardinal, Love, Miller, Madsen who has gotten more PT then McCants lately)

Even though we lost, I really love the way we've been playing. Very different team over the last 2-3 weeks. Actually playing with confidence.

I was at work and didn't get to see the game, but I am pleased with the wolves effort from what I've heard. If Jefferson didn't have a poor shooting night, we win this game by 10 at least. The officiating must have been terrible, and yes I did see the last play in the highlights, which was a clear foul as far as I could see. I can't believe that Wolves shot 13 free throws vs the Heat's 38. Foye scores 29 points and doesn't get fouled once - unlikely. Jefferson shooting 4 for 14 and only getting fouled once - impossible!

If Wade got breathed on, it was called.

I agree.

My G/f asked why the refs call it that way. I told her certain players are known for certain things. Wade is known for running into guys (drawing contact?) and getting fouls. At one point in the game he ran right into Love but since Love's foot was up he got called for the foul.

Did anyone see Wade jump into Love after his dunk in a very cocky sort of way? If that were during the game, it would have been a foul on Love. :p

The part that bugs me most is the fact that Foye did EXACTLY what Wade did the whole game on the last shot of the game and didn't get a call. That pisses me off.

Yes and no...the refs for how they had been calling the game should of called it but Foye did jump into the guy and for that to be the final game play they probably didn't want that which I can kind of understand...8 seconds left Foye should of brought the ball up IMO and there should of been a screen set or something. For whatever reason when you have to make a shot with time running out it seems like it is better to already have the ball in your hands versus getting a pass even if your more open because of the pass.

That one sticks out too. There's a reason he scores so much. Gets to the line about 50 times a game.

As did Wade.... the WHOLE game! Foye had his feet of the ground and drew the contact, much like Wade. He, however, didn't get the same call that "mr contact himself" gets.

I know that is where the yes and no comes into play. They shouldn't of been making those calls which would of made Foye's play the correct call but for how they were calling the game where you couldn't even put an arm in front of DWhistle without it being a foul the last play should of been a foul.

during the draft for the number 1 pick so they could get Rose there were rumors they wanted to move him.

Dude those rumors were all made up by Bulls fans.

It was complete BS, and Wade was never available for trade.

Don't be sour.

All of the star players in the league get those calls, and most of them actually are fouls whether you like it or not. Foye will probably get more of them too in the future if he continues to improve and gets a little smarter drawing them.

But anyway, why I was looking in your forum is to see what Twolves fans think about Mike Miller and his poor play lately.

Do you think it will get any better soon? Has he been bothered by injury all the time since after that good stretch to begin the season? Or what else is the deal?

He came to Minnesota, that's the deal. We are a team where good players, if they are not young, come to die - figuratively speaking.

But at the start of the season he had good stats though, so something must be different now.

What I wanted to know was if you all thought he might get back to those stats/that play later in this season or not. I dropped him for Kirk Hinrich in fantasy bball anyway, so I now hope Carney keeps starting :smoking:

I figured after your comments above that's why you wanted to know.

Miller was hurt on and off and now isn't seeing tons of minutes. He's lost his three point stroke it seems like. I'd expect him to do better than lately, though.

Yup. That was the ballgame, right there. Amazing. You'd think that Randy would've gotten to the line once in that game, considering his recent aggressive play, but he didn't. Not once. Meanwhile, D-Wade took 16 free-throws. That decided the game right there.

These types of games are what make me want to (sometimes) quit watching the NBA. What's the point? What can you do in that situation? Dwyane Wade is gonna do what he wants. That's basically what the refs are saying. They're creating an environment where Wade feels he can do anything--and he does. He's getting more and more bold as his career goes on.

The sad part is, Foye isn't rewarded for being aggressive. That's the part that sucks. He'll stop being aggressive if he feels he won't get the call. It's almost as if he has to change his own game to offset the official's slant. How is he supposed to learn the value of driving to the basket if he's never rewarded?

Even when the Wolves were soaring with KG, we didn't get the calls. Never. Some teams get the calls, some don't. It seems that we're always on the outside looking in. Two plays tell the story: in the first half, Wade takes a shot (Foye is guarding). Wade thrusts his body into him, but Foye is crafty enough to go around him and not touch him. Great defense! But NO! He gets whistled for the foul. Then...in the closing minutes of the game, Foye tries the same play. Wade is all over him and fouls him, but no whistle is blown.

**** D-Wade. He's not LeBron and he knows it. If he were, he'd be propelling his team to the top of the Eastern Conference. If he were LeBron, he wouldn't have lost so many games last year playing along Shaquille O'Neal.

**** the Heat. They're a moral vacuum. They have no problem sitting their star player in order to pump up their lottery chances. That's disgusting. That's losing on purpose. Then, when the season's over with, Wade goes and plays for the Olympic team.

**** Pat Riley. Great coach, but he's a douche-bag. He wins, but he's a dick. We're talking about the guy who wanted to patent the phrase "Three-peat"--that's got "douche" written all over it.

It's real easy to "be there for the losses" when you know those losses will guarantee you a top-3 pick. It must be nice to win a title and then get the # 2 pick only two years later to help you rebuild. The Wolves have NEVER had a # 2 or a # 1. Never. Why does it seem that teams like the Heat and Chicago (two teams that have titles) always seem to get the high draft picks when they're in a little trouble? Why is it that we can't get a top-2 pick to save our lives? I'll spell it out for ya: S-K-U-L-L-D-U-G-G-E-R-Y.

It's hilarious. No team goes from winning a title to only winning 15 games in 2 years. You lose that many on purpose--plain and simple. To me, that's cheating. That crap has to stop.

LOL. Sorry about that right there. That was my small-market rant right there. I had to go off. I had to. But when you've got oblivious fans running around talkin' nonsense, you gotta slap some sense into 'em, dontcha, guys? Don't let 'em get away with it. "If you weren't here for the losses you're not here for the wins"--that's ********. They've gone through ONE losing season (and it was ****ing intentional). Now they want a badge of honor because they've endured. Give me a break.

Yeah! Exactly. It pisses me off when underachieving teams like the Bulls and the Heat get bailed out by the lottery. It's sickening. Here we have the Bulls--they were supposedly built for the playoffs last year. A lot of the pundits had them winning the East. But then...they suck all year. Oh-oh. The Bulls are in trouble. But no fear, Bulls fans--Derrick Rose is on the way. How is it that a team with 6 freaking titles in the last 20 years get two # 1 picks while the Wolves, who have only advanced ONCE beyond the first round hasn't even had a # 2? How is that? Is it luck? I don't think so.

The Wolves have been smart to create cap-space. They're not holding out for a # 1 pick anymore--good for them. We'll never get one, I know it. They know that $$ and wins will trump anything. If you have a chance to win and can make some buckage, you'll go there. And thank God for that!

It pisses me off when the media makes fun of the Wolves. Snidey comments on ESPN are the worst. I hate it when players like Mario Chalmers (who is from Anchorage, Alaska) say that it's cold in Minny. He was quoted as saying: "I've never felt cold like this before". Y'see, he buys into it too. He just falls in line with the media's portrayal of Minnesota: "Beware! It's an ice-cap!" or "It's cold in Minnesota, brrrrr. No one would want to play here." Dude, you're from freakin' Alaska! LOL. Either you're lying, or you cranked up the furnace and NEVER left your house, Mario. One of the two. You had to learn basketball somehow. You weren't magically transported to the gym on cold days. You did what Minnesotans do everyday--you put up with the cold because it was your home. And, by the way, why is it that we never hear that same criticism about Milwaukee and Chicago? I guess once you pass the MN border, you're somehow beamed-in to a tropical climate...:eyebrow:

But, like I said, $$/wins trumps everything--even the cold. I like what McHale is doing for this team. He's bringing our respect back up. If he can do that, we'll be fine.
