That's why he writes about the games and doesn't play them. Basketball is a sport. It's not calculus. You can't rank teams solely on numbers and statistics.

Well, not solely, but there is a lot to be learned from statistical digest.

Just not this one.

I watched this ranking last year and as the season goes on it actually gets really accurate. I like this system I think it works pretty good, sometimes teams jump up after just a couple good games though. But at the end of the season it will look pretty good.

the milwaukee bucks are the best team in nba history.

Hmmm, the Lakers have the toughest SOS out of the Top 3, they've won 6 in a row, their last 10 is 8-2, they just beat the Celtics, they have the best record in the league and are 3rd. I swear...this guy is an idiot...that doesn't even say he has the Bucks at #5.

They may have the best SOS of the 3 teams, but they have played more home games. Something like 22 of their first 36 games are home games and 27 of 45 are home games.

Cavs have a SRS (simple rating system) of 10.91 (1st of 30), Boston has a SRS of SRS: 9.61 (2nd of 30) and the Lakers have a SRS of SRS: 9.18 (3rd of 30)

It's a system that has been around a long time.

The Bucks are playing pretty good right now thats all that this tells me. Its a good estimator of a teams CURRENT level of play in conjunction with their overall performance gives a good measure of how 2 teams would fare if they were to meet tonight. The Bucks have beaten some good teams and have done most of their damage with Redd out, obviously they wont be rated this high later in the year but for now I think its fair to say they are on fire.

Put it this way, the Rockets are by far the better team but I wouldnt rate them above the Bucks at this point.

Yea theyre clearly number 1 but the Cavs just lost Big Z and the Celtics are just now showing their vulnerabilities. Its close either way

Not saying they deserve a ranking of fifth but they have played 60% of their games on the road they would probably be 19 and 16 maybe 20 and 15 if those games were at home, not to mention that redd has only played in 21 games and bogut has only played in, I think they may be 10 or 11 I don't think the ranking is a great tool but it does show you a team playing well despite their record. Just one example is they just played the babcats back to back games the game at home they won 103-75 the game away they lost 102-92 and a few games before that they beat san antonio in san antonio, young teams will have trouble playing on the road and find it some other nights, they could be like atlanta last year if they get a four or five seed I wouldn't be suprised and if they win their first round playoff matchup i wouldn't be suprised either. I don't think they are a great team but they play good enough to at least be a top 15 team. and I am a warriors fan so there is no home bias in my analysis.

Agreed, you can always tell which guys actually played the game and this guy clearly wasn't a basketball player. Ranking teams "solely" on numbers and stats doesn't work

to put the spurs outside the top 15 is an automatic epic fail. its disgraceful and an embarrassment to any kind of professional analysis. to put the bucks at 5th is utterly laughable at best. they have talent and they can be VERY good, but im not putting them over any top tier team, not even the rockets nor miami just yet and to put them 5th???? wow
