It is shocking that Philly is that low..

What does the PCT% part mean? The pct of games your team's sold out?

I believe so. Basically the average pct of filled seats in the stadium.

And I believe Detroit has been #1 for years.

Oklahoma City will probably finish in the late teens to early 20's once the glory of having a team wares off and the realization that their team is awful sets in.

The Heat are going to get up there now that everypne sees they are playin so well. I am surprised they are so high so soon because I have season tickets and some nights it just looks empty.

And for the people wondering what the pct. is, it is the % of the stadium that is full.

Suns are 13th on the list because of seating capacity. Every home game sells out. That's what the pct is. Some arenas have higher seating capacities making their attendance higher but may not be selling out every game.

There is no way this list is accurate. There is no way the Pacers are getting 13,000 per night. I've been to a game and I swear I've seen more fans at high school games. The Pacers have always had a tendency of embellishing the actual number to avoid the "r" word (rebuilding). Hell, I remember there being a story in the paper about it last season. The PA announced the attendance at 10,000, but there was no one in the upper or lower deck. When the story came out the Pacers corrected the attendance and it was closer to 3000.

hey all,
This is my first post. I had to register once I read everyone's thoughts about attendance. It doesn't matter who is number 1 as far as attendance because the bigger your arena the better your chances are of having more fans attend....the most important thing is PCT....so as you see if you go to the very right....the LA LAKERS are #1 overall in terms of fans going to see their game whether on the road or at home, Boston is second and then you will see about a 4% drop to number 3....so again the two top teams Lakers and Celtics.....

25th/30th, i'm not surprised.

Being from Philly, fans want to go see winners. We were #5 in baseball, were #4 in hockey, were #4 in football in attendence

Its the way it is. If you try to win, we will go see you. However, if you were supposed to be a top 4 seed and are vastly underachieving, playing like ****, we wont. Simple as that.

I'm glad someone pointed that out. You need to arrange the teams in order of "Overall PCT". This will give you the most accurate ranking of every teams' attendance based on their arena size and number of tickets sold.

The important figure is home attendance, which you are 7th in % in. Don't Lie, Fail.

ok moron

staples center holds 18,997... and the stupid thing says 99.7% at home...lets just say 100%...the have sold out every home game this season...so if home is wut counts, as many people possible go and pay to watch them play. And away too, people shell out on the Lakers...so i was saying, if staples was bigger, like 23K...the lakers would average 23K...laker fans fill up the arena every night and give them 100% in attendence..therefore making there true attendence 1st

MooseWithFleas
01-04-2009, 03:26 AM

what? this makes no sense. They are 7th in % for HOME attendence. Why does away matter? laker fans cant control away attendence. Also, forgot the size of the arena. that is irrelevant. If we're talking about %'s, dallas is #1 at 104%. So based on this logic and considering a linear relationship, a 100,000 person arena would get 104,000 mavs fans, while only 99,700 laker fans

its bad business.....persay u switch arenas....have american airlines center in LA and staples in dallas, id say dallas gets 18,997 or 98-100%....and lakers would get the 104% how ever that is possible

Gamebit I think you are misunderstanding the stat. The Lakers are 7th in Home attendance, despite the fact that they fill their arena at a 99.7% clip. Other teams have arenas with standing room sections, and other teams have restaurants or bars in the arena where people can go and watch the game. They still have to pay entrance to the arena though. Which is why you see Dallas at a 104.2 PCT attendance. American Airlines has the Platinum Club, Dump Lounge, and various other places to watch the game in Arena while you eat. There is also a lot of standing room areas.

So yes, you are wrong. They are 7th in Percentage in home attendance. No one cares that the Lakers have the biggest fan base in the world, that isn't the argument. The Lakers simply don't have fans willing to stand for an entire game or pay to watch the game in an arena bar. Pre-Madonna fans I guess.

You look like a fool arguing against numbers.

woah calm down....its ok that u wont be going to anymore yankee games the way the ticket prices are looking.

actually laker fans sell out every game..And they have restuarants but the maximum capacity in the staples center is 18,997..there is no way to have more than that enter the arena. How would u enter without a ticket? Lets say i bought a lower level ticket and wanted to eat at a restaurant, i could. You dont pay for a ticket at a restaurant. It isnt, that you have 18,997 in the arena and 2K for lounges and restaurants. Its 18,997 whether you are in a seat or at a restaurant

I see what you do. When your argument is refuted you like to insult people, or attempt to. Touching. (by the way I can afford Yankee seats. 125 dollars isn't bad to see a team in that stadium).

Anyway. Like I said. In your mythical world, there is no standing room seats. In everyone else's there is. Hence the 104% you see.

It is shocking that Philly is that low..

dont be shocked they havent shown up since the year before AI left (even his last year was terrible)

and dont let numbers fool you what ever the attendence is subtract about 4000 and thats the real attendence its really sad that one of the premier sports city cant draw any fans to a pretty talented bastball team

i will go out and say that truely Philly probly last in attendence in the nba

Better measure is the PCT, there are capacities in the stadiums. Overall the Lakers have the highest PCT, which makes sense.

It's really sad the Kings are 30th. I guess you take for granted all sellouts they had. You just expected to go to the game and lose your hearing because of all the noise. But now, it's not like the arena is dead. The fans are still loud and whatever, there's just not as many.

is good to see the Heat are in the middle of the pack
I thought we were lower, some nights it looks really empty.

wow the Thunder are bringing in the crowds #12? wow pretty
impressive

Yeah, Miami's #s cant be accurate. Ive been watching them regularly and they it always looks close to half empty. I hope that bothers Wade, Chicago's been at the top even while we sucked.

wow detroit is 1st? I didn't see that coming. I thought L.A. would be higher but then again laker tickets are expensive

the lakers have soldout every home game.. and are 2nd to the spurs in brining in away team fans. the way its ranked is weird... how do the lakers sellout every home game yet are 7th?

lakers need extra seats and rooms like the mavs.. if that happened LA would average near 110%..

Only reason Knicks didn't sell out every game was the World Series.

Cause the team has no spirit at all.
Theyre just playing to get paid, not to win!

The Original post is from January. No way Detroit is #1 now. The economy is bad, but Detroit's is horrible.

^The fans will start come back as the team improves, but they just really need to get that new arena deal done.

being from sacramento and being a true fan threw and threw i am not suprised that we r the lowest

i find it kind of ironic that 8 years ago the kings fans were the best fans so much for that

they were never the best fans and that is showing now...the best fans stick through the thick and thin...

that is why the warriors clearly have some of the best fans in the nba...

are team has been bad for the past two years and regardless of this, they still are in the top 10 for attendance...

They were the most annoying and I would say "passionate" fans from 00-03. I hated playing @ Arco and them bringing their stupid cowbells. But, what a difference 5-6 years have made.

Is this total attendance for the season or per game average at home?

Some teams have had more home games at home and that would make certain teams higher in this bracket if it's based on total attendance. The Blazers will sell out every home game, no doubt so I expect them to rank high regardless but other arena's are a little bigger so I dont envision them as the top team but close to the top nonetheless.

Please tell me this is serious sarcasm. The Kings sold out every game from 1985-1998 and then from 1999-2007. The Warriors aren't even selling out their games!
