View Full Version : Favorite Baseball Player Personality?

Adalbjorg

This player doesn't have to be any good, they don't even have to play for a team you like. But based strictly on the personalities of players, who is your favorite?

I think I'd have to say Papelbon. He's absolutely hilarious and you can just tell that he enjoys living life.

Sean Casey... nicest guy in the game and you can tell he definitely enjoys playing. Kevin Millar is pretty cool as well.

when i was batboy it was probably pablo sandoval because he was called up the day before and i was probably the only one who talked to him, being the rook

also alex hinshaw, steve kline

tim lincecum and matt cain are the funniest pair of young guys in the league hands down

Cool guy. Met him, he's nice. I remember when I met him in spring training in 06 the next day was an off-day, he was flying some of the guys from the team to Vegas for the day...that's pretty pimp.

There's alot.

In terms of funny players I would say Tim Lincecum, Nick Swisher, Big Papi, J-Roll, Dempster, Millar

In terms of flat out nice guys I'd say Dave Roberts, Sean Casey, Roy Halladay, there are too many to name.

I almost forgot about Jeff Kent and Barry Bonds

Papelbon is one of the biggest douches in the league. I cannot stand that guy. What he said about the Rays and "it not being over" earlier this year, as well as his actions on the field...I would love to punch that dude in the face. I can understand how a Sox fan would like him I guess, but some of the things he does are indefensible. He's an idiot.

the musical from him in high school
his old teammates telling stories about how he'd jerk off in gatorade bottles in the back of the bus
him saying he wants to invest in a new myspace, and become a "ca-drillionaire"
him saying he "couldn't remember" what happened to the 07 WS ball and then later saying his "dog ate it"

He's obnoxious, and dumb.

just a whole bunch of that stuff. and the thing about the Rays was the worst because he said "it's not over" to insinuate there would be more physical retaliation after the fight/conflict was clearly in the past.

-Putz: Guy has an awesome sense of humor and can turn on the heat when he's closing. He gets pumped and never has anything bad to say about anyone. Mets, you guys have yourself a stand-up set-up man.
-Sexson: I know he was god awful, but he knew it as well and admitted that the boos got to him pyschologically. I always felt terrible for him. It's a shame when your fans boo your own players. In any situation.

Yeah, he chokes all the time to the tune of a career .975 OPS in the clutchiest situations (http://www.baseball-reference.com/pi/bsplit.cgi?n1=rodrial01&year=00#wpa-lever) (higher than in any other situation)....

Oh, you didn't get the memo? If a player strikes out or doesn't do what you expect them too once then they're very "un-clutch". People still **** on Beltran about not swinging in game 7 of the '06 NLCS, but no one recognizes that Wainwright threw a disgusting curveball.

Wright is also a choker for striking out when Murphy lead off the inning with a triple in one of the last games of the '08 season.

It doesn't matter what stats say. You have to judge a person based on one game or hell, even one AB.

And also to the person who said Arod is unclutch, he has his moments. But what does that have to do with personality? He is one of the hardest working players in baseball and wants to succeed and be liked. If you actually look, he is at the field hours before anyone else to work out.

Now i know this might sound stupid, but Jesus Montero is a great baseball personality. He works his *** off, loves to talk to fans and give autographs, loves playing the game, and respects the players around him.
