The only one that has no replacement is oden.

Yesterday they beat the celtics WITHOUTH Roy.

So Oden is the key for the Blazers is what you are saying?

The poise on that young team starts with Roy.

Roy. They can win some big games without him but in the playoffs they need him.

Any team will get unexpected wins when their star is out, but Roy is the foundation of this team right now. But who knows what hight LA or Oden will reach.

This is a league dominated by big men. Unless your name is Michael Jordan, a wing player can't win you a title without a dominant big man. Don't get me wrong, I love Brandon Roy, but if this team ever lives up to the hype, it will be because of Greg Oden more than Brandon Roy.

My other argument goes completely against the thread. While I voted for Oden, this thread assumes that the Blazers will revolve around one player... I think that this team will be more along the lines of a Detroit Piston's team (though better talent at almost every position) The team won't be Roy's, Aldridge's or Oden's... they focus on team basketball, and I see that continuing.

I say Oden, because I thought it was pretty clear last year that with Roy and Aldridge that they were going to be good. And they will be good with the Roy Aldridge combo, but how Oden pans out could be the difference between a good team and championship team.

Yes because god centers are very hard to come by this days.

If roy goes down there is Rudy who given his same number of shots would do similar numbers, if aldrige goes down, and frye gets his same type of shots he would also score in similar fashion.

But przybila cant make up for oden when he peakes.

Love Roy, but I think the success will depend on how good Oden turns out to be.

Oden's development will determine if the Blazers become a perennial championship contender or a playoff contender in the West.

Dominant Big man can change a playoff team to a championship team ..like everyone said if oden develops into a dominant Center than portland can become very dangerous in the west

Aldridge and Roy are already in place. Oden has shown glimpses, but they need him to keep getting better and than they will be deadly. Big men are hard to come by, so if Oden could develope into what some experts think he can, that would benefit Portland the most.

Its Oden no question. Roy and Aldridge are already solid, Oden is good in flashes. When he is a 20 and 15 guy every night thats when they are not to be ****ed with.

A lot of people are basing their criteria on different things. Some are basing it on who the best player on the team is now and some are basing it on if the Blazers are contenders it depends on another player.

well the question is pertaining to their future. It would be pretty unthinkable for roy or aldridge to regress. So with them playing at the same level or better, they'll continue to be a good team. but what determines how good/great of a team they become is based on how good oden becomes

Seriously If oden becomes even and 18/8 player this team will be amazing

Oden's more important for the Blazers. He's supposed to be the one who's going to bring them to the promise land..

What are you talking about...Przbilla is one of the most important players on the team. He's a better backup than either Fernandez or Frye are. If anything the Blazers have the most insurance with Oden than with Roy/Lamarcus.

All 3 of them will be very important for the success of the Blazers' future. The one that will be most important is Roy because he is the leader and he is the one with the superstar potential.

Letting Steve Blake go would be the worst decision of their lives.

Steve Blake=awesome.

Well Oden has alot to improve offensively, Roy can improve defensively, LeMarcus is pretty solid at both with an unstoppable jumper. Of the 3 Id say Oden has the most upside so hes the most important for the future because if he doesnt get better then they wont be contenders whereas the other 2 are closer to where they need to be to win a championship, but in terms of whos their best player I think LA's contributions go unnoticed, to me hes their best player or atleast Roy's equal he just doesnt get the pub.
