I am curious to see who everyone thinks is the best defensive point guard in the league,

first among the top PG's and second among the non stars.

Either Devin Harris or Chauncey Billups.

Chris Paul isnt a great defender, he just gets steals. He isnt a bad one at all, but nothing special.

OKC Thunder
one-on-one he might be the best IMO and he's a 19 year old rookie
he doesnt get a lot of steals or anything, but he can shut down his opponent.
guys like CP and Rondo are great secondary defenders, though Rondo is a great all around defender.

Statiscally speaking we have to choose CP3.

But when D Will is 100%, I belive he is a better defender in general. He is big and physical as a PG, and have good anticipation.

I know this is cheating but if Wade is playing the point hes the best PG defender easily. I wouldve said Rafer at the start of the year but hes looking a step slower this year. The traditional names (Kidd, Watson, Hinrich, Billups) are all slowing down. The PG spot is probably the least important to have defensively but Im sure having a guy who can pressure the point of attack, keep his man in front of him and rebound with the best of them, like Rondo is a huge luxury for a defensive team, but I dont know of too many elite defensive teams that relied on a PG for most of its effectiveness. Maybe the old school Sonics (RIP) or latter day Knicks.

Westbrook, Billups, Rondo, Paul and DWill.

This is perfect. The only good defenders in the NBA at PG. Maybe Harris but I honestly don't think he's all that great.

On the bulls.

Of top PGs: CP3= best steals guy,Billups=best man guy
Of middle PGs: Rondo and Chalmers (Rondo with longer arms but less quickness)
Of lower tier: Royal Ivey (IMO by far best PG defender), Hunter

I believe Westbrook to be quite good, but I've never seen it personally.

I am curious to see who everyone thinks is the best defensive point guard in the league,

first among the top PG's and second among the non stars.

Top defensive point guards: Chris Paul, C. Billups and D. Williams, Tony Parker (is an underrated defender, but gets it done)

Non Stars: Rodney Stuckey, Kirk Hinrich, Rondo (he is a solid defender), Lindsey Hunter (in his prime, he was one of the top defensive point guards)

Baron Davis isn't typically touted as a top defender, but he gets steals AND could guard one on one too. Everytime I've seen him cover, Kobe, he does as good a job as a guard could (esp for a PG)

people might think Paul is a good defensive pg, hes a risk taker always taking chance on a steal, but he is second to billups

Chris Paul is a gambler and nothing more.

It's close between Billups and Rondo.
