-They are only whispers but I'm hearing chatter that Gilbert Arenas and the team is seriously pondering whether to bring him back at all this season. He originally targeted Dec. 1 as a possible comeback date and certainly expected to be in uniform last night but remains on the shelf with not clear date in sight.

If the Wizards do that they are officially tanking the season away.

Well, their record is terrible and at this rate, I don't see them making the playoffs. I can see why they'd sit Arenas, but part of me thinks that if he's fully healthy and ready, he needs to get out there and start justifying that tremendously overblown contract he signed in the offseason. Otherwise, yeah, they will be basically tanking.

If Gilbert is healthy, he needs to play, period. He just signed a "huge" contract and the fans of the Wizards deserve better from the organization. I don't believe in tanking a season just to land a top pick. With all of the talent on the Wizards, they should still make the playoffs.

I think he might as well so he could be healthy next season and maybe they could get a high draft pick.

This has been the plan all along. They want a top draft pick to complement Arenas when he will be fully healthy next season.

why not?
they aren't going anywhere
unless they go on a serious winning streak they won't make it to the playoffs

Might as well, the league is rigged anyway.

yeah, Arenas needs to sit out the season. The wizards can then tank, and get a quality player through the draft.

Why pay a guy 18.5 million a year if they aren't making you a contender?

Imagine the Wizards with this lineup next year:

PG Arenas(HEALTHY)
SG Young
SF Butler
PF Jamison
C Griffin

This team would do ALOT of damage in the NBA especially in 2 years!

if they wanna tank then they should trade jamison ASAP to another terrible team like the grizzlies or the twolves for a first pick or even package jamison and a young talent for a good younger player

jamison, mike james
for odom

jamison for kaman

why not pull a 1995-96' Spurs? Get a better pick that way, maybe as fortunate as the Spurs were

But how good can you be when your best player is highly inefficient?

I really hope the Wizards draft a guard kinda. Not sure if Nick Young is the answer at SG. Not sure how much i like Griffin at center, i would rather trade Jamison for a decent center and draft Griffin to play PF.

Dam, I really liked him in 06/07. He was a lights out shooter and just destroyed teams.

he rushed it last year and it didn't work out. The team is garbage this year and would need a serious streak to be able to change things around but I don't think they have the pieces to do that, rest Arenas so he's 100%, go into the lottery pick up a quality guard to play alongside Arenas(Jordan Hill/James Harden) and create a stronger and deeper bench, and these guys might just have a decent team next year.
Arenas, (Lotto Pick), Butler, Jamison, Haywood

You put Griffin at the C, than wizards are probably going to have shortest front court. Jamison is only 6-9, which is relatively short for a PF. Griffin is definitely not a center, IMO, grab a wing (SG/SF.)

You would if your favorite team sucked.

More time for him to update his blog!! Yeah!!

What a waste of money for this year. Could pay off in the future though, as long as they get a good player this draft.
