I'm in a heated argument not in Mock about this, who do you think is the better player?

Since I assume the question is right now, Beltran. In the future, Sizemore.

I'd want sizemore but career-wise it's been beltran

We were debating lineups...AKA OFFENSE. Track records tell you that Beltran is the better bat.

Sizemore was a better hitter when the two of them were the same age, so unless he gets injured he'll be the better CF. But if we're talking about 08 it's Beltran without a doubt.

Sizemore is the better overall player, IMO. A better defensive outfielder, better base-stealer, and they are both equally at the plate.

i would take Beltran I still consider Size more of a leadoff hitter

You're half right, Beltran is better by quite a bit at stealing bases.

Sizemore gets the D though.

Sizemore's UZR is better than Beltran's by quite a bit. He is a leadoff hitter by need, not by want. He is more suited in the 3-5 hole of course where he can be more protected.

Sizemore is better, but by a very small margin

Beltran's arm makes his D better.

I'd take Sizemore. They were basically the same offensive player, and Sizemore was a better defender.

Ways to go doing what? Being more awesome?

This is about as close to a draw statistically, as you can find for any 2 players.

The biggest difference is where they hit in the order and the fact that Beltran has been around longer. Not to mention that Beltran hits from both sides of the plate.

Beltran has stolen more bases at a higher percentage. Aside from that they have almost identical stats in everything aside from power. The 2 best CF's in the game too....

If you ask me today, I would take Beltran. Obviously, Sizemore has the brighter future due to his age.

Hmm you sure about that?

according to the fielding bible Beltran has been the best defensived center fielder the last 3 years, Grady is not even on the top 10.

...and Beltran is the all time best base stealer % wise for anybody who has over 200 bases stolen.

...so explain to me how is Grady a better fielder and better base stealer?

UZR has Sizemore as being superior, though. It's a conflict between the two metrics. Depends which one you trust more.

Yeah, Sizemore is +28.6 compared to Beltran's +14.0.

Big discrepancy. I trust UZR more though.

Right now, Beltran. But Sizemore is very good as well.

UZR has Jeter as an average SS last year and even better than Reyes.

Thats why I take the +/- rankings over UZR.

Thats why I take the +/- rankings over UZR.

UZR makes more adjustments than Dewan's system does, though. So it's more reliable.

Once again this is no way to conduct a player comparision poll.

So far the only posters who present a good comparision is Bagwell368 and Bargnani that I have seen in the last 3 weeks. At least there is something to learn in their threads right off the bat to keep you interested.

SHOELESSJOE3 has added the most info to the threads started by others.

according to what exactly?

Sizemore....mostly because of age

how does age make a player better?
i dont think we are comparing how they will play down the road ten years from now. right now beltran is still chillin around his prime.
