At this point in the season in 05-06 we were 15-12, the exact same record we have this year.

I would say no.

Wade had the better team. Posey on James (can force bron into tough shots). There's no way in hell West can handle Wade. And Shaq can abuse Z. Not mention the Zo of the bench, his energy and D are unmatched.

As a heat fan I think you know my answer

No, not even close

Shaq > Z
Halsem > Wallace
Walker = West
J Williams < Mo Williams

Zo >> Varejao
Posey >>> Wally
Payton = Boobie
Kapono > Sasha

The bench on that Heat team was ridiculously good, and Wade had a legit 2nd option who could even be a #1 at times.

a better question would have been
How would the 2006 Miami Heat matchup with this season's top teams
Celtics...Lakers....

I think Lakers or Celtics of this season would beat them Cavs I'm not so sure

Kapono wasn't even playing any minutes during the run,but yeah the heats bench had much more depth.

I don't think a team can be top 3-4 in defensive and offensive efficiency without being a good team which is what the Cavs are at this point.

Its hard to get a handle on that team because they were integrating so many new pieces and facing a few key injuries. Statistically they were the best defensive team in the 2006 playoffs after after being 9th during the regular season so theirs that. As good as Cleveland has been defensively I have to see if it will sustain the test of time, if it does then LeBron should get some serious DPOY recognition, hes the best defender on an elite defensive team that truly relies on him to make plays. His ability to play the 4 has helped them in so many ways, not too many teams like having their 4's matched up on LeBron essentially forcing them to go small. When they dont, LeBron has a career night, he might have one regardless but sometimes a best defense is forcing the other team to change its defense.

I have to see more from Cleveland against +.500 teams to make my decision, but its very possible they could be a better team and not win the title.

Lol, pretty generous on the Antoine Walker rating there. But no, outside of Wade, the Heat roster was much better. But keep in mind Wally may be traded at the deadline to shake things up, and this Cavs team is better defensively than that Heat team.

Lebron is the equal of Wade, but who is the equal of Shaq? Nobody...Sorry. Cavs are a vastly improved team, but are in no way as good as Shaq/Wade Heat team. Wade was healthy and killing it in the playoffs. Lebron is playing as good as Wade was, but there is no equal to Shaq. Nothing even close really. Remember, Shaq was ultra-motivated to prove he could win without Kobe & the Lakers. IMO, if the Heat championship team were to play Lebrons Cavs, it would be a sweep just like when Lebron played against the Spurs. Not even close.

Walker was horrible, he was possibly the difference between the 2 teams, the Cavs have no one who can single handedly lose you a game on both sides of the court the way Antoine could.

Umm these Cavs don't have a guy by the name of Shaq on their roster, I don't care what age.

Wade was playing like the best player in the NBA in the playoffs and had a deep bench + Shaq and Zo as his Centers. He had Payton and J-Will as his Veteran PG's running the team. He had Posey's defense.

Cavs have LeBron who is a good player but his supporting cast isn't what Wade had.
Shaq + Zo > Most of the Cavs Bench IMO during the 2006 season.

They got some clutch baskets from Walker in that postseason, and Walker was a beast in the NBA for a number of seasons, I rate him higher than West, even at that career point.

So many "Toine" haters out there

I was just thinking, this is totally random, but...does anybody remember how nasty Shaq and Nick Van Exel played together during those couple of seasons.

Talk about a money player.

No freaking way. Wade wouldn't win with that team this year either. The Pistons and Mavericks teams he went through were really good teams but nothing compared to the machine that the Celtics are.

Um No.......not even close.......Shaq

And that Heat team wouldn't be close to beating this year's Celtics or Lakers........the refs wouldnt give Wade 40+ FT's a game against league friendly teams

but it is amazing Wade & Lebron got to the Finals with such mediocre teams.

The Heat was a team that won only 52 games that year. While Wade had Shaq, it wasn't like he was in his prime. He was already 34 that season.

No but Lebron is better than anyone on 2006 heat team

IMO, If Shaq wasn't in Heat, the heat probably wouldn't have gone pased 2nd rounds
