The Rockets traded Steve Francis to the Memphis Grizzlies today.
The veteran guard was sent along with a 2009 draft choice that the Rockets had previously obtained from the Grizzlies in exchange for a conditional pick in 2011.
By trading Francis the Rockets have dropped below the luxury tax threshold and now have the flexibility to sign another player.

well we traded him, a second this year, and cash for just their 2nd in 2011, so value wise, we got raped, except that we got under the LT and can now sign a backup big (mutumbo plz )

Rockets aren't gonna sign Mutombo, he said he'll be in San Antonio or Boston soon.

stupid move for the Grizzlies

Sixerlover
12-24-2008, 03:49 PM
^ Not that stupid. They do get a 2nd rounder this year, and some more money. An extra 2nd rounder gives them some more flexibility come draft night

They must be making room for Deke. I wonder if he will even play as a Grizzly again.

Guess I can forget about the missing persons report I was about to submit for Steve, but I should probably still file the one I have for Bonzi Wells. Franchise better stay out of Mayo's way.

eh, francis won't contribute in anyway except for sitting on the bench for another team.

good deal for houston to actually finding a team dumb enough to trade for him.

Who knew Steve Francis still existed?

He doesn't exist anymore as a player. He's the guy with the courtside seats to every game who gets paid a couple million to watch. Don't expect him to suit up and play if you're a Grizzlies fan. He'll be nursing those imaginery (ego) injuries that keep him off the court and from embarrassing himself. A once acrobatic dunker with no basketball IQ or skills to fall back on now that he got old and fat.

Believe it or not: He likes playing basketball.

Rockets will sign Dikembe or PJ Brown

If P.J. Brown comes back it will be to play for only Boston but, I think he's retired for good after getting his ring. Mutombo said he's going to sign with either Boston or San Antonio but, my guess is if he really wants a title he'll go to Boston. Why would a semi retired 40 plus years old player like P.J Brown or Dikembe Mutombo come back to play for a team that doesn't really have a chance to win title? That doesn't make very much sense does it? No

He loves Houston, he could easily sign there and yes they do have a shot at a title. Of all the contention teams they have the most to improve and theyre still elite.

What an impressive big3 Memphis will have when they acquire Marbury (Miles,Marbury and Francis) from the Knicks.

Maybe Rodman and Mahorn would be willing to come to town to complete this fiasco!
